Style Card Set - Kanban Crafts

 Supplies:
 Paper: Kanban Crafts
 Die-cuts: Kanban Crafts
 Acrylic: Clear Scraps
 Alcohol Ink: Ranger
 Gold Mixatives: Ranger
 Distress Stickles: Ranger
 Brad: Pink Paislee
 Ribbon: Details, Offray
 Tattered Florals Die: Sizzix
 Cuttlebug: Provo Craft

I’m always looking for new ways to make flowers for my projects and I can always find a great tutorial in Scrapbook News and Review Magazine. When I first saw former SNR staffer Lisa Valentine's acrylic flowers, I was struck by how delicate and beautiful they were. I usually don’t work with acrylic, so I was excited to try something new and I loved that I could personalize my flowers to a specific color. Creating them was easy and fun. The only step I changed was the addition of gold mixatives instead of pearl mixatives. I really like that every flower I created was unique and I loved that I was able to match the color of my flowers to my paper supplies.

Here are a couple of close-up photos of my cards:

Easy On The Ears

Supplies:
Paper: Glitz Design
 Letter Stickers: Glitz Design
 Flower: Petaloo
 Hearts: Colorbok
 Music Note Stencil: Tim Holtz
 Alcohol Ink: Ranger
 Miscellaneous: Glass Beads

I had a lot of fun creating this page about one of my favorite artists of all time, Chris Cornell.  This paper by Glitz Design is the perfect balance of grunge and color and the music note background and singing birds are great embellishments.  I made a music note base for my title using a Tim Holtz mask as a stencil and I love the way it turned out!  If you're not familiar with Chris's music, be sure to give him a listen.  He's easy on the eyes and the ears!

Me - Creative Soup Fun in the Sun Crop

Supplies:
Cardstock: Bazzill, Bo Bunny
Paper: Sassafras
Letters: American Crafts
Stickers: Sassafras
Doily: Hallmark
Chipboard: Pink Paislee
Rub-on: Glitz Design
Mist: Clearsnap
Ink: Ranger
Other: Staples, Tissue Paper, Twine

I created this layout for Creative Soup's Fun in the Sun Crop.  Kim's challenge requires the use of a color palette from Design Seeds, one of my favorite sites for color palettes.  Purple and navy always catches my eye.  I used one of my favorite photos of myself that was taken last summer while I was in Chicago for Lollapolooza.  A long weekend without the kids was wonderful and I felt as free as a bird!  I was also thrilled to hear music from some of my favorite bands, both old and new.

Here is the color palette that inspired this layout:

If you are looking for some fun challenges, the crop runs until Saturday, August 27th.  There are plenty of prize packages up for grabs and the challenges and artwork from the Creative Team are really inspiring!

5 Weeks In The Field

Supplies:
Paper: Crate Paper
Letters: American Crafts, October Afternoon
Chipboard: Crate Paper
 Die-cuts: Crate Paper
 Stickers: Crate Paper
 Thread: Iris
 Mist: Clearsnap
 Pen: Zig
 Miscellaneous: Name Tape, Staples

I bought the Crate Paper Toy Box collection specifically for the camouflage paper, helicopters and green army men.  I had a lot of fun making a military themed layout with my husband's old field training photos from his freshman year of college ROTC.  I'm very lucky that my husband is in the engineering field in the USAF and therefore doesn't see much action and has never been deployed.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he is able to stay close to home for the rest of his career.  A big thank you to all the service members who serve this great country at home and abroad!

Scrap Attack Scrapbooking August Reveal!

My August design kit from Scrap Attack Scrapbooking featured the Prima Reflections Collection! The Reflections collection is packed with gorgeous jewel tone colors and beautiful designs. One thing I love about this collection is the mix of detailed designs and  simple subtle patterns.  At first glance, the colors of this line remind me of fall, but once I started scrapping I was amazed at the versatility of this collection.

The browns and blues in this collection are perfect for beach pages!

I made a rolled ribbon flower for fun.  Also, the blue Marri Flowers by Prima, shown below, are two-layered and pull apart easily if you are looking to stretch your embellishments!

I cut this beautiful floral design from the Prima Shalimar cardstock.  I really like the lace border and small blue flowers I added for a pop of color.

I cut the golden flowers, leaves and butterflies from patterned paper for this layout.  Even though this is a masculine page, I wanted to include flowers and butterflies.  The Scarlet Silk Roses by Zva Creative are the perfect shade of red!

I couldn't resist scrapping a photo of my basset hound, Scamp.  The colors and patterns of the Recollections papers are so regal, which make them perfect for masculine pages of your favorite boy, man or canine!  I had a lot of fun with layers on this page and hand-stamped the small letters of the title.  The Canterbury Collection of Vines by Petaloo are one of my new favorite embellishments!

The little cutie is my nephew Dylan.  This collection is perfect for fall photos.  I cut the diamond designs from this paper and used them on the above layout.  What was left is a lace of sorts, which I think made an interesting background for this page.

I love the Prima Pebbles for a fun embellished flower center!

This is one of my favorite photos of my Grandparents.  The birds and flourish prints were just perfect for a love birds page.  My Grandparents were married for over 60 years before my Grandfather passed away.  I hope I'm as lucky as them!

The Prima Marri Flowers and the Zva Creative Scarlet Silk Roses blended together perfectly.  There are several patterned paper designs that contain leaves that can be cut to help fill out flower clusters.

Another fall layout here featuring my youngest daughter in her favorite dress at the time.

The Brown Prima Say It In Pearls & Crystals are one of my favorite embellishments. This design has flourishes and leaves and can be easily cut into several pieces for use in several spots.  I love the small brown flower clusters as flower centers!

I had a blast creating these layouts and I hope you enjoyed them! For a larger selection of my work or to see the supplies used in these layouts please visit my gallery in the Scrap Attack Scrapbooking Store.

Hug or Two - Kanban Crafts

Kanban Crafts Supplies:
Duo Quilt - Blue - SCR9008
Billy On Skateboard - PCT9225
Billy In Combats - PCT9224
Gingham Sentiments - Blue - PCT9558
Patch Sentiments - Blue - PCT9236
Buttons - PPTWIN1

Other Supplies:
Cardstock: Bazzill
Thread: Iris
Other: Buttons, Ric Rac

The Billy collection of die-cuts by Kanban Crafts are some of my favorites and are perfect for use when I'm scrapping one of my nephews.  I love the dimension that can be achieved with layering these die-cuts and I was happy to find a photo of my nephew in a similar outfit to the one printed on the Billy die-cut!  Kanban Crafts also offers a girl version of these die-cuts, Bonnie, for the little ladies in your life!

I thought it would be fun to embellish the button print paper with buttons for extra interest.  The ric rac trim matches the foil stitching on the Duo Quilt paper.  The sentiment card reads: If I really need a hug or two, I know that I can depend on you.
