Yesterday I posted my top 11 layouts of 2011.  Today I'm sharing my top 11 altered trading cards, tags, cards and home decor projects.  One of my goals for 2011 was to start using my scrap supplies for more than just layouts.  I am thrilled with all that I have learned this year and look forward to stretching myself even more in 2012!

Last month Scrapbook News and Review Magazine had a call for Cards for Kids.  I made this cute card for my daughter as a way to remind her that she is loved.  I love the large vinyl button and bow.  My daughter loves glitter and the Pink Paislee letters were the perfect way to add a little sparkle and a pop of color to this card.

Strong

Supplies:
Paper: Basic Grey
Letters: Pink Paislee
Ribbon: Jillibean Soup
Tag: Maya Road
Stamps: Studio G
Thread: Iris
Mist: Tattered Angels
Ink: Ranger
Pen: Sharpie
Sketch: Kristin Tweedale
Song Lyrics: Delta Spirit
Other: Buttons, Twine

I found this older, overlooked photo of my husband on my computer and loved it so much that I had to scrap it!  I've been making a lot of my own small letters lately and used them on this page.  The title and journaling are song lyrics from "Bushwick Blues" by Delta Spirit, a favorite band of mine.  The papers are from older Basic Grey collections, which never seem to go out of style!  I've been hoarding them forever and finally decided that it was time to cut into them.  It was fun to take a break from girly pages to create this layout about my husband.  Thanks for stopping by today!

Silver Bell Tag - Flying Unicorn

Tag: Avery
Paper: Melissa Frances
Wood Bell: Kaisercraft
Rhinestones: Pink Paislee, Prima
Felt: Queen & Company
Stickles, Ink: Ranger
Other: Ribbon

I created this tag for the Silver Bells Challenge at Flying Unicorn.  I've been making a lot of tags lately, trying to use up some of my paper scraps.  I think I'll tie this pretty tag to a gift instead of adding a card.  The gorgeous papers are from the Melissa Frances Deck The Halls collection. The papers, along with the majority of the embellishments, are available in the Flying Unicorn Store!

I had so much fun creating this layout with the gorgeous Riddersholm I Believe collection for Flying Unicorn's December Issue of Enchanting Creations Magazine!  This collection is one of my favorite Christmas themed collections ever!  The patterned papers are a fabulous mix of traditional designs and colors.  The B-sides of the papers feature angels and hearts, which make this collection perfect for Valentines Day crafting as well!  By using the blue and white patterned papers of this collection, I achieved a totally different look from the layout I shared yesterday.  I love the frosty feel of this page and the vintage photos of my husband's family. If you're interested in purchasing this beautiful collection, stop by the Flying Unicorn Store and add it to your cart before it's sold out!  The Flying Unicorn is the only store in the U.S. that carries Riddersholm Design collections, so they won't last long.

Free Spirit

Supplies:
Paper: GCD Studios, Pink Paislee, Scrap Within Reach
Rub-on: Fancy Pants
Flowers, Pearls: Prima
Ink: Ranger

One of my favorite features in every issue of Scrapbook News and Review Magazine are the sketches.  I was immediately drawn to the embellished circular elements of the sketch.  I love the simplicity of this layout and the sweet photo of my daughter. SNR Magazine is having a subscription special, one year for only $19.99!  You can read all about the subscription options HERE.

The sketch I used for inspiration was created by Carey Bridges, which was based on a layout by SNR Staffer Azura Alyssa.  Azura's layout was chosen for the July cover of SNR magazine!

I found this sleigh at the bottom of my Christmas decoration box. The letter blocks and greenery came unglued and I was going to toss this piece, but thought all it needed was a makeover and some fresh glue. The gorgeous papers are from the Melissa Frances Deck The Halls collection. The papers, along with the pearls, rhinestones and red roses, are available in the Flying Unicorn Store!

I had so much fun creating this pop-up card for Flying Unicorn's December Issue of Enchanting Creations Magazine!  I usually keep my cards simple, with only a handwritten sentiment on the inside.  I decided to challenge myself and I'm thrilled with the results.  I'm not sure who I'll give this card to, but I can't wait to see their face when they open the card and find the surprise inside!

Here is the front of the card.

Ave Maria - Scrap It With A Song

I've been listening to Christmas songs while I scrap this month and am really feeling the Christmas spirit!  My absolute favorite Christmas song is Chris Cornell's version of Ave Maria.  It's so beautiful that I listen to it all year long!  Instead of making a layout, this time I created an arch with a gorgeous image of Madonna and Child by Taddeo di Bartolo. The Pop Gals and Rock Chicks from Scrap It With A Song want to see your projects that are inspired by your favorite Christmas song.  Link up your projects by the end of the month for you chance to win!

Candy Girls - Scrap Your Crap

Supplies:
Paper: Bella Blvd., Sassafras Lass
Letter Stickers: Pink Paislee
Felt: Sassafrass Lass, Queen & Co.
Twine: Jillibean Soup
Other: Buttons, Ribbon

For Challenge #60 at Scrap Your Crap we would like to see BUTTONS galore. Buttons have become a permanent staple in the crafter's stash box and if you are anything like me, you have more buttons than you will ever be able to use up in a lifetime. This month use a handful (or more) of buttons on your project. Think outside the box, maybe use them as a picture frame, create a shape outlined with buttons, or create a title. We cannot wait to see what ideas you come up with!

SNR's 12 Days of Christmas - Day 12 - Happy Holly-Days Tag

Supplies:
Shipping Tags: Avery
Patterned Paper: Nikki Sivils
Overlay: Hambly Studios
Sticker: Momenta
Twine: Jillibean Soup
Ink: Ranger, Tsukineko
Alcohol Ink: Ranger
Stamps: Girls' Paperie
Other: Acorns, Berries, Leaves, Ribbon

One of my favorite things about the holiday season are the colored lights that can be seen everywhere. Whether decorating a tree or the outside of a home, twinkling lights always catch my eye. I thought it would be fun to try to capture some of that beautiful colored light in a tag!

Supplies:
2 shipping tags
Patterned paper
Festive embellishments
Overlay or piece of acetate
Stamps
Solvent ink
Alcohol ink
Distress ink
Edge distressor
Paintbrush
Scissors
Kraft knife
Adhesive

Step One: Arrange stamps on a stamp block, apply solvent ink, and carefully press the stamps onto the overlay. Let the image dry.

Step Two: Color the stamped image with alcohol inks.

Step Three: Cover one tag with patterned paper. Measure and cut a window for the stamped overlay into both tags. Center the overlay between the windows of the tags and glue the tags together.

Step Four: Using an edge distressor, lightly distress the edges of the tag and apply Distress ink to the edges of the tag.

Step Five: Add festive embellishments to finish the tag.

I modeled this tutorial after a similar tag created by Alda Stevens.  If you want to try using memory glass and embossing powder, you can view Alda's tutorial HERE.

I created this layout using Maggi's Molding Paste Tutorial.  I tinted my paste with alcohol ink, which gives it the subtle blue-green hue.  My husband just turned 30, and feels that time is just flying by!  This is a masculine romantic layout and my journaling explains that I'll never have enough time to fully express the love I feel for him.
