Sheer Clock: Maya Road
Thread: Iris
Mist: Tattered Angels

The current song on the play list at Scrap It With A Song is "Turn, Turn, Turn" by The Byrds.  I love this song!  I chose to use some of the song lyrics for the title of this page.  My husband recently took my girls on a photo shoot and brought back this gem.  The Rock Chicks would love to see how you interpret this song!  Link up your project by the end of the month to be eligible for the prize draw!

Scrap it With a Song is looking for some fresh new faces to add to our current list of super-star designers! If you love both music and scrapbooking, then SIWAS is for you! The Pop Gals and Rock Chicks find inspiration each week in a song. We are accepting Design Team applications until January 31st and the new DT will be announced with the first challenge reveal in February. If selected, you are required to participate in 2 challenges per month and you will need to promote the challenges on your blog, facebook or twitter account. You will also be required to comment on participants entries. No prior DT experience needed!

The first challenge of the year is already up and new challenges are posted every Thursday. Pick one or try them all! All participants will be entered in the draw for the January prize just for playing along! Cloud - Scrap Your Crap

Paper: 7 Dots, Basic Grey
Letters: American Crafts
Doilies: Hallmark
Mist: Tattered Angels
Mesh: Magic Mesh
Other: Book Pages, Butterflies, Ephemera, Fibers
Sketch: Creative Scrappers #187

For Challenge #61 at Scrap Your Crap we would like to see some of your oldest papers mixed with a new purchase.  My newest purchase are the gorgeous 7 Dots papers from the Dreamer collection.  I mixed in some old Basic Grey papers as well as some old embellishments; Magic Mesh and fibers.  My daughter helped me with the title for this page.  She said it looked like she was sitting on clouds, so I went with that and added some song lyrics from Les Miserables "Castle on a Cloud." We cannot wait to see what ideas you come up with!

Mister Fahrenheit - Scrap It With A Song

Paper: Basic Grey
Paint: Kaisercraft
Mist: Tattered Angels
Song Lyrics: Queen

Scrap It With A Song is back from the holiday break with a New Year Free For All Challenge this week!  I chose "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen, which is a great song and went well with this photo of my husband rocking out with his band.  The song lyrics read:

Tonight I'm gonna have myself a real good time
I feel alive and the world is turning inside out yeah
I'm floating in ecstasy
So don't stop me now don't stop me
'Cause I'm having a good time

I almost always use papers from the Basic Grey Obscure collection to make rock pages.  I love the turn tables, cassette tapes and cables that are featured on this patterned paper.  I didn't want to cover up too much of this paper so I only added a bit of paint and mist, simple and fun! If you want to play along, simply choose any song to celebrate the new year and link up your project!

Paper: Glitz Design, American Crafts
Banner: My Mind's Eye
Sticker: October Afternoon
Pearls: Melissa Frances
Whatnot: Glitz Design
Ribbon: Webster's Pages
Tattered Floral Die: Sizzix
Tool: Cuttlebug
Other: Netting

I created this layout for the January Blog Challenge from Glitz Design.  This layout was inspired by the photo shown below.  I added many of the elements from the photo on my page including color, snowflakes and the garland, which I switched to a banner.  I really love the frosty feel of the inspiration photo and tried to add the same touches to my page with the flowers I made from netting and the pearls.  The cutie in the photo is my niece, who I met for the first time over the Christmas holiday.  I really love the gray and blue for a feminine page!
This challenge ends on January 26, 2012 at 11:59pm. The top five, which includes the prize winner, will be highlighted on the blog on the Saturday following the contest end!

Photo Paper: Kodak
Letters: Paper Trunk
Flowers, Branches: Petaloo
Leaves: Prima
Butterflies: Webster's Pages
Mist: Tattered Angels
Other: Salt, Frame

My word for 2012 is PERSEVERE; to persist in anything undertaken; maintain a purpose in spite of difficulty, obstacles, or discouragement; continue steadfastly.  I made this frame to sit on my scrap desk, to remind me everyday not to give up.

I had a lot of fun making the background for this piece using mist and kosher salt.  I love the effect the salt has when it mixes with the ink.  I used letter stickers as a mask for my word and peeled them away once my background was dry.

I usually start out the new year with high expectations and a ton of energy and by the end of the year I'm hanging by a thread.  I'm determined that this year will be different for me!

Sweet And Lovely

Paper: Sassafras Lass
Flowers: Making Memories
Sticker: Sassafras Lass
Other: Button, Twine
Sketch: Keri Babbit for Pretty Little Studio

I created this layout using the current sketch from Pretty Little Studio.  Living in Florida, I don't have the typical winter landscape, so I swapped the snowflakes for flowers.  I also flipped the sketch.  I took this photo of my daughter while we were vacationing last month in Texas.  The weather was a bit colder than we would have liked, but we managed to avoid the snow!
