Inspired Blueprints DT Reveal!

My design team introduction is up on the Inspired Blueprints Blog!  If you'd like to learn a little more about me, my scrappy style and why I love working with sketches, you can read all about it HERE.  I created a layout for my reveal based on one of my favorite Inspired Blueprints sketches, #65.

My girls were thrilled to find snow during the holiday break and I had a lot of fun creating this frosty page. I assembled some leftover Christmas decorations for my "peace and joy" embellishment cluster.

If you're looking for some inspiration, you can find more Inspired Blueprints sketches on Pinterest. Become a follower of the Inspired Blueprints Blog and join the Inspired Blueprints Community so you don't miss any sketches.

Pain Pain Go Away - Moxxie

I'm sharing a layout that I created with the Moxxie Doctor Doctor collection. My baby girl broke her arm a couple of months ago.  She is doing great now and her arm is as good as new thanks to her awesome team of doctors.  She was such a brave girl through the whole ordeal and stole more than a couple of the Dr.'s hearts and even scored a personal cell number, just in case she had any problems!

I layered several rub-ons to embellish the edge of the photo. I love the band-aids! The page title and the "Boo Boo" tag are also from the Doctor Doctor Rub-On set.  I added some gauze across the center of the page to play up the medical feel of this layout.  If you need to document and bumps or bruises this is a really fun collection!

Thanks for stopping by today!  I promise the next Moxxie layout I share will be with one of the new collections!  Stop back again on Friday to see which one!

Love Birds Hanging - Tando Creative

I'm sharing a love bird hanging for the "Love is in the Air" theme this week at Tando Creative. I love Tando's selection of small and mini chipboard pieces! They're the perfect size for this project which measures about 4"x4". I used a Small Bird Cage and a pair of birds from the Mini Birds Grab Bag.

I gave the chipboard a light coat of paint.  Once the pieces were dry I added some Distress Stickles for a bit of sparkle.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Puppy Love - Moxxie

I'm sharing a layout today using the fabulous XOXO collection from Moxxie. This line is so fun to work with and I knew it would be perfect for this photo of my Grandmother and her puppy.  She was probably younger than me in this photo. If you're looking for a fun collection for your love-themed layouts, I highly recommend this line! There are several classic love design elements featured on the patterned papers and stickers, like hearts, lips, locks, keys and roses. The more traditional color palette of pink, red and white is brightened up a bit with lime green and yellow.  Many of the patterns also feature black, so if you want to go for a more grungy or masculine feel, you could easily do that as well.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! If you are looking for even more Moxxie inspiration, stop by the Moxxie facebook page to see all the projects created by the talented Muses. I"ll be sharing projects with the new collections soon! The Muses are having their February Blog Hop on the 1st of next month, so be sure to come back then for your chance to win one of the new collections!

Fun - Scrap It With A Song

Scrap It With a Song is having a "Year in Review" this month and we'll be scrapping along to some of our favorite tunes from 2012. On the playlist this week is "Some Nights" by Fun.

I used the title of the band for the title of my layout and some of the song lyrics for my journaling.  I've been a SAHM for the past 6 years and sometimes I feel like I don't know who I am or what I stand for anymore.  The scope of my world has narrowed considerably and I mainly focus on my kids.  I feel like I was much more aware before I had my girls.

I found an interview with Fun in an issue of People and thought that would make a cool background for this page.  I covered most of the magazine page with gesso so that I could stamp the song lyrics.  These boys are nominated for 6 Grammy Awards!  I can't stop listening to their album and I really hope they win.

The Rock Chicks would love to see how you interpret this song! Link up your project to the SIWAS Blog by the end of the month for your chance to be named one of our Play List Favorites and a future Guest Designer! I'm giving away a fabulous selection of colored twine from American Crafts to one lucky winner!

I've been a part of the SIWAS team for over a year and I have had a fabulous time.  This will be my last official layout as a Rock Chick as it's time for me to move on. I'd like to thank my fellow team members for all the inspiration!

Bonjour Card - Creative Inspirations Paint

The challenge this week at Creative Inspirations Paint is to use a favorite stamp on a project. The formula of CI paints makes adding color to small areas a breeze. Each square image on my card measures less than one-inch.

As always, the color, coverage and shimmer of CI paints is fabulous!

I took my color palette for this card directly from the top of the stamp: Garnet, Rustic Red, Rose Quartz, Autumn Wheat, Raw Sienna, Burnt Sienna, Sage, Lavender and Antique Silver.  The range of colors offered by Creative Inspirations is wonderful and I easily selected my paints for this project, no mixing required!

I hope you have enjoyed my project and will play along with the challenge this week at Creative Inspirations Paint! You do not need to use CI paints on your projects, but if you have them, we would love to see how you used them. Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

Shine Tag - Tando Creative

For the Month of January the Tando Creative Team is challenging you to create projects for the theme Feeling Blue. Each week a member, or two, of the DT will share their project to inspire you to join us.  Today is my turn to share and I chose the Grab Bag of Stars and the Corner Flourish Mask

I found the tutorial for this color treatment HERE. I used Aleene's Origianl Tacky Glue, Bahama Blue Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, Stream Adirondack Alcohol Ink and Sea Green Maya Road Glitter.  I also added some Golden Glass Bead Gel and Gesso.

Up for grabs this month are 4 pieces of Tando chipboard of your choice!  All you have to do is create a piece incorporating the monthly theme and link to the Tando Creative Challenge Blog. You don't have to use Tando products, but, if you do you'll be entered into the draw twice, doubling your chances to win. We don't have many rules, as rules spoil the fun, but in order to be in with a chance of winning we do ask that your project is entered for a maximum of 5 challenges, including Tando. Thanks for stopping by today!  We can't wait to see your creations.

Howlin' For You Card - Paper Wings Productions

I'm sharing a fun card for Paper Wings Productions today that uses a fun technique called stamp kissing, which is a great way to add some personal flair to stamped images. I used this technique in two different ways, to remove a pattern on a textured stamp and to add a pattern to a solid stamp, on a masculine card I created for my husband.

I started with the Howlin' For You Cling Stamp. The first thing I thought of when I saw these trees was that a set of initials in one of the tree trunks would be a great way to personalize this stamp. I began by applying ink to the textured tree stamp.

I found a solid heart shape that fit inside the largest tree perfectly in the Handmade Clear Stamp Set. I carefully pressed the solid heart portion of the stamp onto the inked tree trunk to remove a heart-shaped area of ink.

I didn't use a stamp block for this step. The clear stamps are flexible, so I was able to press just the desired heart portion of this stamp onto the tree to remove some of the ink. Note: Avoid sliding the stamp around during this step to prevent smudging of the image. Any ink that was not removed from the textured stamp can be removed with a Q-tip.

Once I stamped the trees onto my card, I was ready to alter the wolf.

The Holiday Mix It Up Clear Stamp Set contains a feather which I thought could add some fantastic "fur" to my wolf. I repeatedly inked and stamped my feather onto the solid wolf stamp until it was covered, and then stamped the image onto my card.

I'm really pleased with the twist I put on this stamp set and I hope I have inspired you to try this technique!

Thanks for visiting today! Be sure to stop by the PWP Blog for more inspiration from my fellow design team members.  If you're interested in purchasing some of these fabulous stamps, visit the Paper Wings Productions Store to browse the full collection of stamps and kits.

Paint Organization - Creative Inspirations Paint

Are you looking to get more organized for the New Year?  I know I am!  I found a great way to store my Creative Inspirations paint and I thought I would share that today.  I recently purchased several Close To My Heart Embellishment cases.  These plastic cases hold the jars of CI paint in a foam cushion. Two cases hold the entire CI paint palette!

The case closes securely with two sliding clasps and also has a convenient carrying handle which makes transporting paint easy!  I love that the plastic case is clear so that I can easily see what colors are stored in each case.

Graduate - Your Memories Here

I created this layout for Your Memories Here using some of my favorite Prima supplies, mainly the Almanac and Romance Novel collections.  I used a favorite layout, one that I also created for Your Memories Here, as a guide for this page.  I was struggling to find my mojo this week, so I lifted one of my own designs. This layout below may look familiar to some of you.

It's fun to see this design in a different theme and color palette!

I used a journaling card and an image cut from a piece of patterned paper from the Almanac collection for a second focal point.  This message really helps sum up the feelings portrayed in the photo.  I wrote some additional journaling on a notecard and tucked it behind the photo.

I had a lot of fun embellishing this page.  So many of the Prima embellishments work well for a school themed layout.  I added the string of typewriters, a light bulb, a key, an alpha charm and several wooden stars.

I love the patterns printed on the wood buttons, but the color scheme doesn't always fit, so I flipped them over to show the natural coloring, which was a much better match to this page.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  If you're excited about Prima's new releases like me, stop by the Your Memories Here Store and put in your pre-order for one of the new Prima collections, scheduled to ship at the end of the month.

XOXO Photo Charm Tutorial - Moxxie

I'm sharing a layout featuring two of my favorite sweethearts that I created with the Moxxie XOXO collection. This line is perfect for Valentine's Day crafting, but also works will for any page that is filled with love and an everyday photo like the one I used.

I love cutting design elements from patterned papers and using them to create embellishments for my pages.  Photo charms like these are fun and easy to make with just a few simple steps.

Step One: Cut the desired amount of locks from the B-side of the Soul Mate Right (XO-1071) patterned paper. Using detail scissors or a craft knife, remove the center of each lock and the pink background paper from the lock handle, creating a heart charm.

Step Two: Cut a small photo to fit inside each heart.  Note: I used a wallet size photo above.

Step Three: Glue photos to the back of each heart charm. Optional: Use 3D Crystal Lacquer to highlight the screws and braided handle of each charm.  Note: This lacquer creates wonderful 3D effects and the needle tip allows precise application.

Here is what my charm looks like after I highlighted select areas with the lacquer.

Step Four: Apply a thin coat of the lacquer over the entire surface of each charm and set aside to dry. The areas that I highlighted in Step Three have more lacquer, and therefore more dimension, than if I would have only applied a single coat of glaze to my charms.  Note: Any glaze could be used for this step to seal the charms.

Before I go, I wanted to mention another favorite piece from this collection.

Two pieces of patterned paper from this collection feature this fabulous banner heart design.  The XOXO Rub-Ons come with 5 sentiments that fit perfectly inside this banner!  With expressions like "My Luv," "Only U," "Be Mine," "Sweet," and "XOXOXO," these banner are fun and easy to personalize.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope I have inspired you to create some charms for your projects. If you are looking for even more Moxxie inspiration, stop by the Moxxie facebook page to see all the projects created by the talented Muses. We'll be sharing projects with the new collections soon so check back here often!
