Moments - Quick Quotes

I'm sharing a layout that I created with the Simple Elegance collection, a quote from the new Sentiments Bundle, the new Coal Miner PowderPuff Chalking Ink and some Border and Bracket templates from Kiwi Lane Designs for Quick Quotes today.  If you picked up the January Club Q Kit, then you have been enjoying this beautiful collection for some time now.

I chose this beautiful vellum quote to complement this photo of my family, one of the very few times that four generations were together. This is definitely one of those special moments that I cherish.

The Cracklin' Rose collection includes several sticker designs that are black and white like the one shown here that blend well with the Simple Elegance collection.

Spring Nest - Creative Inspirations Paint

I'm sharing a fun Spring decor piece for Creative Inspirations Paint today. I picked up this small nest for practically nothing and had a lot of fun embellishing! The original eggs were plain white plastic and in need of some shimmery texture and color.

I first added a coat of Resplendence Angel Dust Glitter to the eggs.  Once dry, I used a toothbrush to add specks of color in Sky Blue, Mellow Yellow and Chocolate.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Love ATC - Tando Creative

For the Month of March the Tando Creative Team is challenging you to create projects for the theme Flowers. Each week a member, or two, of the DT will share their project to inspire you to join us.  Today is my turn to share and I chose to make this simple card with flowers from the Mini Flower Grab Bag and an Artist Trading Card base.

I kept the finish on these blooms simple with just a light coat of ink and one rhinestone flower center for a touch of bling.

Up for grabs this month are 4 pieces of Tando chipboard of your choice!  All you have to do is create a piece incorporating the monthly theme and link to the Tando Creative Challenge Blog. You don't have to use Tando products, but, if you do you'll be entered into the draw twice, doubling your chances to win. We don't have many rules, as rules spoil the fun, but in order to be in with a chance of winning we do ask that your project is entered for a maximum of 5 challenges, including Tando. Thanks for stopping by today!  We can't wait to see your creations.

Paper Easter Eggs - Moxxie

I'm sharing some paper Easter eggs for Moxxie today. Each egg is made from three layers of paper, the bottom two layers are newspaper and the top layer is festive patterned paper from the Moxxie Homespun Easter (pastel eggs) and Spring Has Sprung (brown egg) collections. These eggs were so fun to make!

Paper Easter Eggs How-To

1. Tear newspaper into small squares for the egg lining, which will hug the form better than long strips. Tear pieces of patterned paper for the outer-shell layer.

2. Blow up balloons until they assume an egg shape and tie them off.

3. In a bowl, combine 2 cups warm water and 1 cup of flour. Mix until combined. If you would like a smooth, clear finish, combine 1 cup warm water and 2 cups sealant (such as Mod Podge), and mix well.

4. Soak papers for egg lining in paper mache mixture until saturated. Take out 1 piece at a time, removing excess liquid with fingers. Working from top of balloon to bottom, apply pieces, overlapping slightly. Add middle and outer-shell layers while paper is wet. Set aside to dry for at least 24 hours.

5. Cut a jagged line around the upper part of each egg using a craft knife. Pop and remove the balloon from the inside of the egg.

6. Fill the eggs with paper grass and candy.  Embellish the outside of the eggs and enjoy!

I cut a small hole in the top of this egg and tied a loop of ribbon through it for easy removal of the lid.  I added a tag from the Homespun Easter Die-Cut Sheet.

I filled the inside of this egg with paper grass and candy.  I carefully replaced the top portion of the egg and tied it together with a piece of ribbon.  I embellished the top with ribbon, flowers and a tag from the Spring Has Spring Die-Cut Sheet.

Crepe Paper Flower Tutorial - Zeus and Zoe

Crepe Paper Flower Tutorial by Dana Tatar for Zeus and Zoe

Thanks for stopping by today! I always look forward to Spring when things begin to turn green and flowers begin to bloom! I created these beautiful flowers, a variation of a flower by Melissa Frances, with Crepe Paper, DecoArt Glamour Dust Glitter Paint and some fabulous buttons from my Zeus and Zoe kit.

Crepe Paper Flower Petals by Dana Tatar

Step One: Cut 5 pieces of crepe paper to measure 1-inch x 1.5-inchs, making sure the longer length runs with the lines on the crepe paper. These 5 pieces will form the inner petals of the flower. Cut 7 pieces of crepe paper to measure 1-inch x 2- inches, making sure the longer length runs with the lines on the crepe paper. Using scissors, round the corners on one end of each of the pieces to make a petal shape.

Step Two: Use your thumbnail and a finger to smooth out the crinkled  lines on the rounded end of each of the petals.

Step Three: Dip the tip of each rounded petal into DecoArt Glamour Dust Glitter Paint. Let dry.

Step Four: Use the 5 smaller petals to form the inner layer of the flower. Pinch the straight end of each petal to form a teardrop shape. Use hot glue to adhere the petals together.

Step Five: Layer and adhere the 7 larger petals onto the backside of the 5-petal flower you just formed.

Happy Easter - Tando Creative / Moxxie

I'm sharing a layout for the Easter theme this week on the Tando Creative Design Blog. Tando has some fabulous new Easter themed chipboard pieces! I used some Mini Rabbits and a bow from the Mini Easter Eggs set on this page. The Moxxie Spring Has Sprung collection was perfect for these photos of my little one from last Easter. I had a lot of fun fussy cutting the patterned papers!

There are several fun rabbit designs in the Mini Rabbit Set.  This leaping rabbit is my favorite.  I colored him with a simple coat of acrylic paint. I added another rabbit to the flower pattern printed in the lower left-hand corner of this page.

This little bow is from the Mini Easter Egg set. I also colored this piece with acrylic paint and topped that with a thin coat of Stickles.

Paris ATCs - Paper Wings Productions

Happy Thursday to you all! I'm sharing a pair of artist trading cards that I created with the Paris Clear Stamp Set for Paper Wings Productions today. If you're looking for some fun French-themed stamps that have a lot of great detail, this set is for you!

I started with a piece of watercolor paper. I stamped the images onto my paper using VersaFine ink, to capture all the fine details of the stamps. Next, I embossed the images with clear embossing powder by carefully stamping over the images again with VersaMark ink, sprinkling with clear embossing powder, and setting with heat. The clear embossing powder protected the stamped images while I added layers of color to the paper and also kept a small area around the image white, which helps the images pop from the background.

I added the script text to this card with the Background Writings Cling Stamp Set. I wanted a faint impression, so after inking the stamp, I pressed it onto another piece of paper to remove some of the ink before I stamped onto my card. I finished this card with a sentiment from the Paris Clear Stamp Set and a brad.

I added the script text to this card with the second stamp from the Background Writings Cling Stamp Set, using the same method as above for a faint impression. I used the decorative border stamp, also from the Paris Clear Stamp Set, along the bottom of this card. I finished this card with a sentiment from the Paris Clear Stamp Set, a flower and some ribbon.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope I have inspired you today!  If you're interested in purchasing some of these fabulous stamps, visit the Paper Wings Productions Store to browse the full collection of stamps and kits.

Friend - Quick Quotes

I'm sharing a layout that I created with some of my favorite NEW Quick Quotes supplies today.  I matched a quote from the Sentiments Bundle with the gorgeous Cracklin' Rose collection. I also used some framing templates from Kiwi Lane Designs to create the layered frame around this page and the shaped photo mat.

I used the Kiwi Lane Madison Avenue Border Template to create the frame around my page.  I inked the edges of each patterned piece with the new Java PowderPuff Chalking Ink to help each layer stand out.

I used the Kiwi Lane Mini Madison Avenue Border Template to create my photo mat. I added some color to the edge of my mat with Plum Crazy and Dusty Rose PowderPuff Chalking Ink. I first used a small floral stamp with the Plum Crazy ink to add a pattern around the mat.  I then lightly inked around the edge of the mat with Dusty Rose.

Irish Eyes - Tando Creative / Moxxie

I'm sharing a layout for Tando Creative today. The theme this week on the Tando Design Blog is Ribbons and Lace. I had a lot of fun with this theme and decided to create my own lace-filled shamrock from Tando chipboard. I'm looking forward to the upcoming St. Patrick's Day holiday, and to help get me thinking green, I paired my festive shamrock with the Moxxie St. Patrick's Day collection.

I started with a branch from the Leaf Branches with 3 Loose Leaves and some hearts from the Jewelery Heart Set. I trimmed the leaves from the branch set for use in my flower clusters and cut the stem down to a better size for my shamrock. I trimmed the small loops from the top of the hearts to make a clean edge. I colored the chipboard pieces with Lemon Zest and Cut Grass Dylusions Ink Spray and topped that with Tattered Angels Iridescent Gold Glimmer Mist and Blizzard Glimmer Glam Paint. I filled the cutouts in the hearts with green lace to finish.

Here is one of the leaves from the branch set. I added some of my favorite flowers and Want2Scrap rhinestone flourishes to make some pretty flower clusters.

I also added a key from the 5 Decorative Key Set.  I colored this piece with Tattered Angels Antique Brass Glimmer Mist and then covered it with a layer of Clear Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
