Washi Tape Dress Card - Love My Tapes

Hi! I'm sharing a card that I created for Love My Tapes today. The dress on this card is made with washi tape! My daughter has a Tapeffiti fashion design set and I borrowed one of those patterns to help create this dress.

Using washi tape in this way is really fun! Creating a 3D washi dress for projects is quick and easy.

Step One: Choose a small dress pattern (many can be found online for free) or draw your own.

Step Two: Cut the dress pattern out, cover the pattern with washi tape and smooth with a burnisher.

Step Three: Trim any overhanging tape from the edges of the pattern and tape the dress together.

Step Four: Add the dress to an embellished card base.

That's all there is to it! The wide selection of Love My Tapes washi designs will keep me creating fashionable dresses for quite some time! I think I'll try adding a lace tape trim to the bottom of my next skirt.

Adventure - Quick Quotes + Xyron Blog Hop!

Hi! I'm sharing a layout I created with the Quick Quotes Calypso and Serendipity collections and some fabulous Xyron products for the Quick Quotes and Xyron Blog Hop Week. The Calypso and Serendipity lines blend so well together and I just can't get enough of the blue, orange and yellow color palette. I'm planning to use these collections for most of my Summer scrapping! All of the Xyron products I used to create this layout were new to me and I have to say that I absolutely love them all!

I used the Xyron Mega Runner to adhere the large pieces of patterned paper and photos to my page. The light-weight design of this runner made it easy to use. The cap that covers the adhesive wheel is a major bonus for me. I didn't have to worry about accidentally getting adhesive on my work-in-progress!

I had a blast creating my own stickers from pieces of patterned paper that I cut and the Xyron Create-A-Sticker. I loved the polka dot design on the Calypso 300 patterned paper. I cut larger circles from the Calypso 100 patterned paper to embellish my page. I added adhesive to the back of each circle using the Create-A-Sticker machine and randomly stuck the circles to my page. I further embellished some of the dots with doodles and small stars.

I added dark blue accents with some scrap pieces of Serendipity 100 patterned paper. I used the Xyron Glue Stick for Corners. This design is brilliant! Not only are my corners secure, but the triangle design is comfortable to hold and also prevents the glue stick from rolling of my craft table!

I finished my page with some hand-drawn stitches. Many of the ready-to-cut designs on the Calypso 500 patterned paper sport a stitched edge, like the Dream Big pennant I used on this page. I added my own stitching to my patterned paper layers with a marker for a more cohesive design.

Love Card - Craft-Dee BowZ

Hi! I'm sharing a card that I created for Craft-Dee BowZ today. This month Craft-Dee BowZ has partnered with The Graphics Fairy, an amazing source of fabulous, free digital images. If you have not visited this site it is fantastic! I have created a card using one of their fairy images.

I started with an embossed cardstock base and then added some script stamping and a wide strip of lace. Donna set me a gorgeous handmade butterfly and some beautiful butterfly lace, which I was happy to use on this card! I inked the edges of my image with Distress Ink and Stickles for a bit of shimmer.

I tied this pretty double loop bow with two different pieces of ribbon and my Craft-Dee BowZ Tool. I loved the look of the gold satin under the sheer organza striped ribbon. Simply layer the ribbons on top of each other and use the Craft-Dee BowZ Tool as you would with a single piece of ribbon to create this two-toned bow.

Small Talk Arch - Tando Creative

Hi! I'm sharing an arch for the Free For All theme this week on the Tando Creative Design Blog. I started this piece with the inner cut from an Arabian Style Layered Arch Frame and a favorite song lyric. I'm very much an introvert and there are days when the noise of the outside world gets to be a bit overwhelming. Luckily I have art to help sooth my soul!

I colored Small Speech Bubbles with some "loud" colors of ink and then stamped script over them. I used a label maker to print out song lyrics by Ray LaMontagne that read "I'm drowning in the small talk and the chatter."

Thanks for stopping by today! Tando Creative now has an online Retail Store for all your chipboard needs! If you're a mixed media artist who is often frustrated with fragile chipboard that doesn't hold up to wet mediums, I highly recommend Tando Creative Chipboard!

Home is Where the Heart Is Album - Tando Creative Challenge

Hi! I'm sharing an album cover I altered for Tando Creative today. The theme on the Tando Challenge Blog this month is "Keys."

I used a key from the Set of 5 Keys for a fun window/sign post. I was thinking about dedicating this album to the homes that I have lived in as an Air Force wife. We move around every couple of years and I just love starting over in a new house and exploring new places. This album is a work-in-progress, so I'll be sure so share it again when it is complete.

I decorated the bottom of the album cover with pieces of the NEW Grass Flexistrips that I colored with acrylic paint.

I used the NEW Long Flourish Mask to decorate the background. I also added some fluffy white clouds from the Grab Bag of Clouds.

Up for grabs this month are 4 pieces of Tando chipboard of your choice!  All you have to do is create a piece incorporating the monthly theme and link to the Tando Creative Challenge Blog. You don't have to use Tando products, but, if you do you'll be entered into the draw twice, doubling your chances to win. We don't have many rules, as rules spoil the fun, but in order to be in with a chance of winning we do ask that your project is entered for a maximum of 5 challenges, including Tando.

So Happy To Be Here Mini Book - Love My Tapes

Hi! I'm sharing a fun-sized mini book for Love My Tapes today. I used fabric tape and lace tape for this project. The pretty pink trim peeking from under the front cover of this book is lace tape. I'm thrilled to have this tape in my crafty arsenal! Adding this fantastic piece of trim to my book was quick and easy. The adhesive backing of this lace tape allowed me to dress up my project without the messy drying time of a liquid glue.

I crafted this rose with fabric tape! To start, I cut about 20 1-inch pieces of fabric tape. To create the rose petals, I folded the top corners of each piece of the tape down (See photo below). This left the center and bottom portions of the adhesive back uncovered. I then wound each petal around a paper piercing tool. The uncovered adhesive portions of the petals secured the bloom as I worked.

Notice the blue tape in the photo. This is the tape I used to create my rose. I wanted a bold pop of color for the cover of my book, so once my bloom was complete I sprayed it with mist. The fabric tape really grabs color in a fabulous way!

Flowers Feed The Soul - Moxxie

Hi! I'm sharing a card I created with the Quite Contrary collection for Moxxie today. Now that Winter is finally over I'm beginning to think about what I want to plant in my garden. Flowers are a must have for me! I cut two of the seed packet patterns from the Seedin' and Weedin' patterned paper for the focal point of my card. There are 24 different flower seeds to choose from on this piece of paper, so you're sure to find your favorites!

I cut some flowers from the Sprinkle A Day patterned paper and tucked them behind my sentiment, which I stamped onto the back of the barcode strip I trimmed from the same piece of paper.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
