Georgia Art Journal - Paper Wings Productions

Non-Traditional Mixed Media Album for Baby Girl by Dana Tatar for Paper Wings Productions

Hi! I'm sharing a journal that I altered for a friend who just gave birth to her first child, a sweet baby girl, for Paper Wings Productions today. I was asked to put together a book by her mother, something that was colorful, a bit non-traditional and totally unique, that this new mother could use to document the special moments that she shares with her child. I had a blast putting this album together. I'd love to have you stop by the Paper Wings Blog for more details!

Stenciled Mail Art - Tando Creative

Hi! I'm sharing some pretty packaging for the Anything Goes theme this week on the Tando Creative Design Blog. I finished up a special project for a friend and was packing up her gift when I was struck by the plainness of the boring brown box. I thought it would be fun to make the outside of the box as colorful as the present inside.

I wrapped the box with brown paper and then brushed on a light coat of gesso. I then spritzed the paper with Dylusions mist. I used the Giovanna Doily, Giovanna Hearts and Giovanna Spiral stencils to trace these gorgeous patterns onto the box.

Once the box was covered with patterns, I colored the designs in with a black Sharpie.

You can find the entire range of Giovanna's stencils in the New Releases section of the Tando Creative Retail Store. We'd love to have you join the Anything Goes Challenge! To be in with a chance of winning some great Tando goodies of your choice, please make a piece based on our weekly themes and link your project, not just your blog, using the inlinkz tool located at the top of the Tando Blog. You don't have to use any Tando product, but, if you do, you will be entered into the draw twice! There are no limits to how many times you enter, however, we do request that you only enter your piece for 5 challenges. We look forward to seeing your creations!

If you'd like to know what is inside the box, come back for a visit on Wednesday. Thanks for stopping by today!

C'est Magnifique February Kit Projects

Hi! I'm sharing the projects that I created with the February Kits from C'est Magnifique. I used the Main Kit, Flower Add-On, Embellishment Add-On and Magnifique Mixed Media Kit on each of the projects that I am sharing today.

I'm in love with the gorgeous Blue Fern Studios Sanctuary collection! The beautiful floral and bird prints were perfect to document these photos of my daughter feeding some tropical birds during a trip to Butterfly World.

The Metal Filigree Embellishments are one of my favorite items in the Mixed Media Kit. I colored the surface with the Metallic Rub-On Paint Set and topped it with a pearl brad. I added a pop of color to the background of my page with the C'est Magnifique Pretty Primrose Texture Paint and the Heidi Swapp Square Lattice Stencil.

The Bo Bunny Rose Cafe Journaling Cards and Kaisercraft Be-You-Tiful Cardstock Die-Cuts were a fun way to build up layers under my photos.

This layout features a favorite photo of my daughters. They really are birds of a feather!

The beautiful Prima Roses are my favorite flower from the Flower Add-On. I colored the Melissa Frances Resin Blossom with Rose Gold Twinkling H2Os.

I added some colorful stamping to the background of this layout with the Kaisercraft Boutique Texture Stamp, Prima Turquoise Stone Chalk Edger and C'est Magnifique Pretty Primrose Texture Paint.

I scrap this vintage family photo at least once a year. This old wedding photo is a favorite of mine. I balanced the sepia tones in the photo and patterned paper with bright pink and blue accents.

I added a set of resin "love birds" to the corner of the photo. I colored them with the Metallic Rub-On Paint Set from the Mixed Media Kit. I altered the chipboard piece with Prima Black Sand Texture Paste and Rose Gold Twinkling H2Os.

I created two cards. I had fun building flower clusters with the beautiful blooms from the Flower Add-On Kit.

I also altered the cover of the Kaisercraft Beyond The Page MDF Journal from the Mixed Media Kit.

The MDF journal covers are very strong and would hold up well to several form of wet mediums and heavy embellishments. I love the beautiful Sanctuary paper collection so much that I decided to cover the front of the journal with paper.

I cut around the leaf on the cover, backed it with patterned paper, and filled the leaves with C'est Magnifique Pretty Primrose Texture Paint, Prima Black Sand Texture Paint and Prima Zinc Glass Beads.

I have really enjoyed playing with this kit! If you are interested in the February Kit or Add-Ons a limited amount of kits are available for purchase from the C'est Magnifique Store while supplies last!

I have one more layout to share for the February Sketch Challenge reveal on February 1st.

Wings Canvas - Susan K. Weckesser

Hi! I'm sharing a canvas I created for Susan K. Weckesser today. Susan asked us to share why we create this month. Her motto "Create to live, live to create" really resonates with me and is a statement that I agree with. Whether it is stormy outside, or I'm just dealing with my occasional stormy mood, Susan's designs always bring a ray of sunshine into my studio. I love the happy projects that I create with her collections.

The design idea for this piece began with a Coco Chanel quote Susan shared with the team; "If you were born without wings, do nothing to prevent them from growing." I thought this was a great motivational quote!

I had a lot of fun with my favorite Susan K. Weckesser Color Burst patterned paper. I have once again cut the colorful circles from the paper, slightly distressed the edges, and stacked them to form a caterpillar. I used the Susan K. Weckesser Live In Color Stencil with a black marker to add the little feet and antennae to the caterpillar.

I used the Susan K. Weckesser A Little Bit Washi and Tumbleweed Houses stamp sets to embellish the background of the canvas, which is a simple layer of painted tissue paper. I finished the canvas with some flowers and bright splatters of mist.

Geisha Card - Paper Wings Productions

Hi! I'm sharing a card I created for Paper Wings Productions today. I was inspired to create this card by the gorgeous yuzen patterned papers from the Natural Nesting Components Kit. I paired the beautiful papers with a gold-matted stamped image made with the Geishas with Fans Cling Stamp. I finished this simple card with a sentiment sticker and a Hand-Dyed Ribbon bow.

Queen Bee Mixed Media Board - Tando Creative

Hi! I'm sharing a Mixed Media Board that I altered for the Embossing Challenge this week on the Tando Creative Design Blog. I embossed the board with a honeycomb embossing folder and then covered it with a light layer of gesso. I added color with yellow and white mist, Distress Ink and Gelatos. I embossed the bee onto the board using black embossing powder. I finished the piece with a stamped sentiment and some stamped honeycombs. These boards are really fun to work with and hold up well to wet mediums and heat. You can purchase these boards in two sizes in sets of five from the Tando Creative Retail Shop.
