Make Pretty Stuff Mixed Media Board - Tando Creative

Hi! I'm sharing my take on the Recipe Challenge this week on the Tando Creative Design Blog. I used the Long Flourish Mask, two leaf stamps and three flowers to fulfill the challenge. I built this piece on top of a Mixed Media Board as a companion to the Triple Arch Layered Frame I created earlier this month.

You can find the products that I used for this piece in the Tando Creative Retail Store! We'd love to see what you create for our Recipe Challenge! To be in with a chance of winning some great Tando goodies of your choice, please make a piece based on our weekly themes and link your project, not just your blog, using the inlinkz tool located at the top of the Tando Blog. You don't have to use any Tando product, but, if you do, you will be entered into the draw twice! There are no limits to how many times you enter, however, we do request that you only enter your piece for 5 challenges. We look forward to seeing your creations!

Painted Paper Roll Canvases: A Canvas Corp Brands Kid's Craft Tutorial

Hi! I'm sharing a fun tutorial for Canvas Corp Brands today. My daughter's and I have been saving up empty paper rolls to use for art projects. The recent snow storm gave us the perfect excuse to spend some time crafting together and cut into our empty paper roll stash! We had a blast designing and painting these colorful canvases together!

Supplies:
Canvas Corp Stretched Canvas (8x8 and Chunky 10x10 shown above)
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist: Sherbert, Pink Bubblegum, Marmalade, Lemon Zest, Fully Purple, Puerto Rico
Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam: Blizzard
Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze: Icicle
Empty Paper Rolls

Tools:
Paintbrush
Hot Glue Gun
Scissors
Paint Palette Tray

Step One: Cut the empty paper rolls into 1/4-inch pieces. Arrange the pieces on the canvas in a pleasing design. Use a hot glue gun to attached the pieces of paper roll to the canvas.

Step Two: Run a wet paintbrush over the canvas to help with color absorption. Use a paintbrush to apply Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, Glimmer Glam, and Glimmer Glaze to the canvas.

Step Three: Continue brushing spray mist paint over the canvas until the entire piece is painted. Rinse the paintbrush between colors. If necessary, apply clean water to the canvas with a paintbrush to help spread the color. Let dry.

My girls are thrilled with their artwork! They have assured me that other kids will love this project as well. These gorgeous canvases will find a special place on the wall of my art studio!

Choose Happy Arch - Tando Creative

Hi! I created this Springtime arch for the Anything Goes theme this week on the Tando Creative Design Blog. The flowers are beginning to bloom and the birds are singing outside my window so that was my inspiration for this piece. I covered the base of a Triple Arch Layered Frame with the Gecko Galz Flower Song Digital Patterned Paper from the Floral Symphony Digital Paper Pack and then topped it with one frame piece that I painted a textured white. I brought in a small piece of nature for this piece. I covered a cut tree branch with a painted Leaf Flourish, a die-cut bird from the Gecko Galz Beautiful Birds Digital Collage Set and some paper flowers. I finished this piece with a sticker sentiment and bright pink bow.

You can find the products that I used for this piece in the Tando Creative Retail Store! We'd love to see what you create for our Anything Goes Challenge! To be in with a chance of winning some great Tando goodies of your choice, please make a piece based on our weekly themes and link your project, not just your blog, using the inlinkz tool located at the top of the Tando Blog. Sweet - Pion Design

Hi! I'm sharing a layout I have created with the gorgeous Pion Design Easter Greetings collection today. There are so many beautiful designs in this line, that it was hard to choose what papers to use. I took this photo of my youngest daughter two years ago and it is still on of my favorite Easter memories.

I love the subtle damask fade that is present around the edge of this Violet patterned paper, so I made a similar design with a stencil and ink for the base of my focal point.

I cut an Easter basket from the patterned paper and added a flower cluster in a coordinating color palette.

Easter Blessings ATC - Tando Creative

Hi! I'm sharing an ATC for the Easter theme this week on the Tando Creative Design Blog. I love using heavier embellishments, like this resin frame, with Tando chipboard because I know the extra weight is no match for the strength of the board. I removed the top baby chick portion from the cracked egg design from the Mini Easter Egg Set and replaced it with a colorful digital image of a chick for a festive focal point. I placed my embellished frame on top of an Artist Trading Card that I covered with patterned paper and a piece of Grass Flexistrip. I finished this piece with a pair of bright yellow bows and a handwritten sentiment.

You can find the products that I used for this piece in the Tando Creative Retail Store! We'd love to see what you create for our Easter Challenge! To be in with a chance of winning some great Tando goodies of your choice, please make a piece based on our weekly themes and link your project, not just your blog, using the inlinkz tool located at the top of the Tando Blog. Basket of Shamrocks Canvas - Canvas Corp Brands

Hi! I created this canvas for St. Patrick's Day using some of my favorite products from Canvas Corp Brands. My St. Patrick's Day celebrating usually starts and ends in the kitchen with the preparation of corned beef and roasted vegetables, shortbread cookies, soda bread, and my absolute favorite Irish car bomb cake. I thought it was about time to create a piece of art to help celebrate the holiday.

Supplies:
Canvas Corp 12x12 Chunky Stretched Natural Canvas
Canvas Corp 12x12 Green Burlap Sheet
Canvas Corp 30x36 Green Ticking Fabricsheet
Canvas Corp 30x36 Orange Ticking Fabricsheet
Canvas Corp Yellow Hemp Cord
Canvas Corp Lime Green + White Dot Reverse
Canvas Corp Lime Green on White
Canvas Corp Heirloom Collection Good Luck on Ivory
Tattered Angels Rum Punch Glimmer Mist
Tattered Angels Marmalade Glimmer Mist
Tattered Angels Sun Sisters Glimmer Mist
Tattered Angels Lime Twist Glimmer Mist
Tattered Angels Riptide Glimmer Mist
Tattered Angels Sea Glass Glimmer Mist
Tattered Angels Fully Purple Glimmer Mist
Tattered Angels Waterfall Glimmer Glam
Tattered Angels Crystal Decor + DIY Paint
Tattered Angels Ebony Decor + DIY Paint
7 Gypsies Vintage Brass Heart Charm
7 Gypsies Antique Silver Jump Rings
Straw Hat

Tools:
Pencil, Ruler, Scissors, Paintbrush, Heart Dies, Die-Cut Machine, Hot Glue Gun

Step One: Use a ruler and a pencil to outline a repeating 1-inch square border around the edge of the canvas. Prepare the canvas for maximum color absorption by running a wet paintbrush around the edge of the canvas. Paint the squares in a ROYGBIV pattern using Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist. Apply more water to help with color blending as needed. Let dry.

Step Two: Prepare the center of the canvas for maximum color absorption by running a wet paintbrush over the canvas area. Apply blue Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and Glimmer Glam with a paintbrush. Apply more water to help with color blending as needed. Let dry.

Step Three: Paint a frame between the rainbow and solid blue portions of the canvas using Tattered Angels Decor + DIY Paint. Let dry.

Step Four: To create a basket for the shamrocks cut the top portion of an old straw hat in half and attach it to the bottom portion of the canvas using a hot glue gun. Note: Half of a straw basket would also work here!

Step Five: Use a set of heart dies and a die-cutting machine to cut hearts from green burlap, green ticking fabricsheet, and green patterned papers. Use a hot glue gun to glue 3 heart shapes together to form a shamrock. Use scissors to cut shamrocks from a piece of Good Luck on Ivory patterned paper. Optional: Cut one heart from an orange ticking fabricsheet to embellish the front of the basket.

Step Six: Attach the shamrocks to the top portion of the canvas with hot glue.

Step Seven: Embellish the basket with a die-cut fabric heart, hemp bow, and metal heart charm.

16 - Canvas Corp Creative Crew ATC Swap

Hi! I'm sharing a set of artist trading cards that I created for the Canvas Corp Creative Crew ATC Swap. I've been creating ATCs for years and have never exchanged any with my artist friends. To say I am excited to receive art from around the world, and share my pieces with artsy friends all over the globe, is a bit of an understatement! I designed this card to be mostly flat, as it had to fit inside an envelope, but I couldn't resist adding a couple of light layers for dimension. I've entitled these ATCs "16" to stand for 2016. Here's to a creative year!

Here is the full set of cards. The ATC in the first photo is one I made to keep for myself. I used a combination of products from Canvas Corp, 7 Gypsies, and Tattered Angels for my ATCs. If you'd like to recreate this card, the supply list and instructions are below.

Supplies:
7 Gypsies Trousseau 8x8 Paper Pad
7 Gypsies Camden 6x6 Paper Pad
7 Gypsies Wood Stamp: Scissors
7 Gypsies Paper Tape: Global
7 Gypsies Jump Rings: Antique Silver
Canvas Corp 12x12 Tissuestock
Canvas Corp Waxed Cotton Cord: White
Canvas Corp Canvas Fringe
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist: Bahama Blue, Black Cherry, Fully Purple, Marmalade, Patina, Riptide, Sea Glass, Sun Sisters, Trunk Bay, Turquoise Blue
Blank Artist Trading Cards
Beads
Black Archival Ink
Black Pen
Glue

Tools:
Scissors
Stapler
Circle Punch

Step One: Select a piece of patterned paper for the base of the ATC from the 7 Gypsies Camden Paper Pad, cut down to size, and glue onto the front of a blank ATC base.

Step Two: Place a piece of 12x12 White Tissuestock onto a craft mat and spray with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist. Dry the misted Tissuestock with a heat gun. Use a circle punch to cut the Tissuestock into circles. Glue a tissuestock circle to the top right side of the ATC so that the edge of the circle slightly overlaps the edge of the card. Trim the excess tissuestock from the circle and glue it to the bottom left side of the ATC.

Step Three: Cut the leftover Camden paper scraps into thin strips, and then into small pieces. Glue one paper piece over the small portion of tissuestock on the bottom left edge of the card. Glue another paper piece to the top left edge of the ATC.

Step Four: Tear a small piece of paper tape from the roll and attach it to the bottom left edge of the card, under the small paper piece. Bend any tape overhanging the edge of the ATC around to the back side of the card.

Step Five: Ink the handle portion of the Scissors Wood Stamp with black archival ink and press onto the bottom edge of the ATC, just next to the piece of paper tape.

Step Six: Cut a small strip of Canvas Fringe and glue it to the card so that it overlaps the tissuestock circle.

Step Seven: Cut a strip of numbers, 1234567890, from the 7 Gypsies Trousseau 8x8 Paper Pad. Use a black pen to circle the numbers 1 and 6 on the numbered paper strip. Glue the piece of patterned paper to the ATC so that it overlaps the top half of the piece of Canvas Fringe.

Step Eight: Color a 2-inch piece of White Waxed Cotton Cord with Tattered Angels Marmalade Glimmer Mist. Staple the length of cord to the ATC under the numbered strip of patterned paper.

Step Nine: Add a small glass bead to an Antique Silver Jump Ring. Attach the ring to the piece of cotton cord on the front of the ATC.

Step Ten: Finish the ATC with a splatter of Tattered Angels Sun Sitters Glimmer Mist.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! If you're interested in trading an ATC, please leave me a comment below!

Fun - Stuck?! Sketches

Hi! I created this layout for the mid-month reveal at Stuck?! Sketches. I had a lot of fun working with a bright color palette and the fresh mix of patterns in the Glitz Design Brightside collection. I replaced the line of 3 photos with patterned paper and used one photo instead. I swapped the tag in the sketch with a colorful page title. I found some chipboard birds from Scrapmatts in my stash and added them straight from the package to my flower clusters. I love the natural look for a beach themed layout.

We'd love to see your take on the sketch! Our sponsors this month are Creative Embellishments and Scrapmatts. Visit the Stuck?! Sketches Blog to see what the rest of the designers have created. To enter for a chance to win, link your layout up in the right sidebar of the Stuck?! Sketches Blog by March 30th. All prizes winners are selected randomly using Random.org. When linking your layouts, please make sure it is linked to the specific post your layout is in, not your blog as a whole, as it can be hard later in the month to find your layout. You can also link from any gallery including Flickr or Facebook, but we may not be able to comment. Feel free to combine this sketch with no more than one other non-sketch challenge. Please include a link back to Stuck?! Sketches on your blog entry for our challenge.

Celebrate the Little Things Arch - Tando Creative

Hi! I created this arch for the Texture Paste theme on the Tando Creative Design Blog. I used a portion of my favorite Arabian-Style Layered Arch Frame for the base of this piece. I covered the chipboard with a book page and then used two masks, the Mini Distressed Sequins and the Random Circles, with chalk ink and whipped spackle to add color and depth. I cut a piece from a Grass Flexistrip to run across the bottom of the arch. Before embellishing, I lightly sprayed the arch with white mist.

You can find the products that I used for this piece in the Tando Creative Retail Store! We'd love to see what you create for our Texture Paste Challenge! To be in with a chance of winning some great Tando goodies of your choice, please make a piece based on our weekly themes and link your project, not just your blog, using the inlinkz tool located at the top of the Tando Blog. March Gecko Galz Samples

Hi! I'm sharing the March projects I created for Gecko Galz today. I decided to create cards again this month. I had a lot of fun with the new Easter and Spring digital papers and collage sheets. I used a bright plaid paper from the Easter Eggs Paper Pack for this card. I upcycled a felt bunny and egg from an old Easter card and made it new again.

I used another fantastic plaid print from the Easter Eggs Paper Pack for this card. I created my own scalloped die-cut embellishment with cardstock and the Easter Mandalas Digital Collage Sheet, which is part of the Easter Time Dominoes and Circles Digital Collage Set. I printed the Easter Mandalas onto sticker paper, creating a fun sheet of stickers that are easy to die-cut and use.

I designed this card as a companion to the previous card. I used another bright plaid paper from the Easter Eggs Paper Pack and another scalloped die-cut embellishment that I created with cardstock and the Easter Mandalas Digital Collage Sheet.

I created this Easter Mixed Media Board for the Gecko Galz March "Shabby Chic Easter" Customer Challenge. We'd love to have you join our challenge this month! There is only one rule, and that is you need to use at least ONE product from Gecko Galz. It can be one of the free products, stamps, collage images, or digital papers. The winner will receive a $25 Gecko Galz Shopping Spree! You can read more about my Mixed Media Board HERE. You can find more information about the challenge and see the inspirational pieces my fellow Gecko Galz created HERE.

Here is the free digital stamp I have for you this month. I hope you use it to create something fantastic! Thanks for stopping by today!

Enjoy - Pion Design

Hi! I created this layout with the gorgeous Pion Design Easter Greetings collection. I've been wanting to use this photo of my girls from an egg hunt from a past Easter for some time. My backyard garden leaves a lot to be desired, so I cut my girls from the photo and added them to this picturesque woodland scene found on the Spring Fairies patterned paper.

I cut a frame, sentiment, rabbit, a sweet cherub, and some flowers and butterflies from various patterned papers to help complete the scene. I further embellished the fussy cuts with dimensional paint and glitter.

I finished this page with some lace and a fabric flower.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Hay You - Stuck?! Sketches

Hi! It's reveal day at Stuck?! Sketches! I borrowed a sweet photo of my Niece for this layout. I had a lot of fun with this page! I'm loving the fresh color palette and the title pun.

I swapped the rectangular paper strips from the sketch with a fun piece of foil paper that I cut into the shape of a sun.

We'd love to see your take on the sketch! Our sponsors this month are Evalicious and Wycinanka. Visit the Stuck?! Sketches Blog to see what the rest of the designers have created. Hugs and Kisses Easter Board - Gecko Galz and Tando Creative

Hi! I created this Easter themed Mixed Media Board for the Gecko Galz March Customer Challenge and the Tando Creative March Color Challenge. I'm starting to see the first signs of Spring in my garden and I'm looking forward to an injection of color and some warmer weather. In the meantime, I have this little piece to cheer me up!

I started this project with a Tando Creative Mixed Media Board, some patterned paper, and a rub-on. Once I had my board covered and distressed, I piled on a mix of flowers inspired by both the image and color palette from the challenge picture, a digital image from the Gecko Galz My Little Chick-A-Dee Digital Collage Sheet, and a sentiment sticker.

Here are the details on both of the challenges. It is perfectly acceptable to create one project that fits both themes to double your chances of winning a fantastic prize!

You can find the Mixed Media Boards in two fantastic sizes in the Tando Creative Retail Store! We'd love to see what you create for our Color Challenge! To be in with a chance of winning some great Tando goodies of your choice, please make a piece based on our weekly themes and link your project, not just your blog, using the inlinkz tool located at the top of the Tando Blog.
