Sun and Moon ATC - Tando Creative

Hi! I'm sharing my take on the Recipe Theme this week on the Tando Creative Design Blog. I created this sun and moon ATC with 1 embossing folder, two ribbons and 3 gems. I embossed a White-Lined Artist Trading Card with a star embossing folder. I then added a splash of red/orange ink for a pop of color. I found a wonderful quote on Pinterest about the Sun and the Moon that reads:

Sometimes, I think of the sun and moon as lovers
who rarely meet, always chase, and almost always miss one another.
But once in a while, they do catch up, and they kiss,
and the world stares in awe of their eclipse.

My black and white ribbon symbolize the orbits of the sun and moon. The black and white sun and moon images are from the new Gecko Galz Sun, Moon and Stars Digital Collage Set. I finished this card with some clear gems and some dimensional paint.

You can find the ATC that I used for this piece in the Tando Creative Retail Store! Thanks for stopping by today!

Joy and Happiness - Pion Design

Hi! I'm sharing a layout I created for Pion Design today. I combined the To My Valentine and Mister Tom's Treasures collections and turned time back to 1952 to document this vintage photo of my Grandmother with her dog Taffy. I wish I could travel back in time to know my Grandmother in her younger days where she enjoyed chasing after this sweet pup at our family lake house. I will visit the same spot this Summer where I can feel my Grandmother with me in spirit.

I stenciled clock pieces onto the background of the paper and tucked several clock faces and pocket watches that I cut from patterned paper between the layers of photos. The “Feeding and Care Of Your Dog” border strip was just perfect for this page!

I softened the design with bits of lace, some fabric flowers, and butterflies.

Clearsnap + CardMaker Magazine Blog Hop!

Chalk ink, stamp, and tools provided by Clearsnap. Scissors provided by Westcott. Adhesive provided by Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L.

Hi friends! I'm super excited to be a part of the Clearsnap + CardMaker Magazine Blog Hop! Thanks so much for stopping by today! If you've arrived here from Dawn's blog you're in the right place. If you're visiting my blog for another reason today and would like to be inspired and have a chance to win a fantastic prize package, you can start the hop from the beginning by visiting the CardMaker Magazine Blog.

It’s moving season. Many of my neighbors have moved, are in the process of closing on a new home, or are preparing their house for an upcoming move. As a military wife, I'm used to saying goodbye. This time around, many of my good friends are leaving the area before me. It's always hard to be the last to leave, but I'm also excited for the families that are moving into this great area. I thought it would be fun to make some housewarming cards.

I love using chalk ink because of the versatility of the ink. It has a fantastic dense luster, it is fast-drying, blendable, and ideal for a variety of fun surfaces. I used chalk ink on watercolor paper, cardstock, and acrylic to create this celebratory card.

Supplies:

Step One: Fold and trim a piece of watercolor paper to 4.5 x 4.5 inches. Use a 4-inch square die to cut a window in the center of the top of the card.

Step Two: Stamp a city scene onto the top center of the die-cut square from Step One using the Clearsnap CityScape 3-inch Wood Mount Stamp and ColorBox Blackbird Chalk Ink. Heat Set the ink.

Step Three: Use decorative edge stencils, or freehand draw, a trio of rolling hills onto green cardstock. Cut out the hills and use an Art Dauber to apply ColorBox Chive Chalk Ink to the top edges of the cut cardstock. Heat set the ink.

Step Four: Layer the green cardstock and use adhesive to attach the hills to the bottom of the stamped watercolor paper from Step Two. Center and mount the scene onto a piece of 4.5 x 4.5 inch watercolor cardstock. Use scissors to trim any excess cardstock.

Step Five: Apply ColorBox Periwinkle Chalk Ink onto a stamp block or other slick surface. Use a wet paintbrush to apply color to the sky portion of the scene. Dry the ink with a heat gun.

Step Six: Use a ColorBox Stylus and Foam Tips to apply ColorBox Periwinkle, Huckleberry, and Dahlia Chalk Ink to acrylic houses. Press the ink into the acrylic using a stamping motion. Dry the ink with a heat gun. Caution: The acrylic pieces will be hot! Allow the acrylic to cool before handling!

Step Seven: Adhere the city scene to the back side of the window of the 4.5 x 4.5 inch card base. Use clear glue to attach the houses along the bottom edge of the window. Place a clear sticker onto a piece of fabric ribbon and attach to the top left corner of the window. Cover the seam of the sentiment banner and window edge with a small button.

I'm ready to welcome my new neighbors! This card will pair well with a dinner, bottle of wine, or plate of baked goods. I'd love to know what you think! How do you welcome new homeowners?

The next stop on the hop is Carisa's blog. Here's the complete hop list:

Rainbow Cityscape Mixed Media Board - Tando Creative

Hi! I'm sharing a mixed media board for the Anything Goes theme this week on the Tando Creative Design Blog. I created this piece to honor the victims of the recent tragic mass shooting in Orlando. I hope that we can find a way to stop these senseless acts of violence.

I began by painting a Mixed Media Board with gesso and then a layer of Tattered Angels Pewter Glaze. I used the Stampendous Urban Scribble Rubber Stamp designed by Nathalie Kalbach with black archival ink to add the city scene to the board. I added some black thread and sentiment stickers that I distressed slightly with ink.

I topped this piece with a rainbow from the Rainbow and Elements Set. I used Stampendous Hot Neon Fragments to cover the chipboard and then sealed it with a layer of glaze.

You can find the chipboard that I used for this piece in the Tando Creative Retail Store! Thanks for stopping by today!

True Card - Tando Creative

Hi! I'm sharing the card I created for the Spray Ink theme this week on the Tando Creative Design Blog. A friend of mine recently designed a similar set of cards. (You can check out her card set HERE.) I thought her clean and simple design was just stunning, so I created my own card in a similar fashion.

I cut a layered cardstock card base and applied blue ink to the cover with a paintbrush. I topped the pool of color with a Mini Butterfly that I embossed to match the cardstock base. I finished this card with a simple sticker sentiment.

You can find the butterfly that I used for this piece in the Tando Creative Retail Store! Thanks for stopping by today!

Ice Cream Tag - Tando Creative

Hi! I created this fun ice cream tag for the Color Theme this week on the Tando Creative Design Blog. The weather here is HOT. As the school year winds to a close, I'm looking forward to spending some lazy days at the neighborhood pool and eating plenty of cool treats.

I loved the color blocking from the mood board so I replicated that design on the base of my tag. I applied whipped spackle over the Long Flourish Mask to add a print over the colored cardstock squares. I had a lot of fun embellishing some Mini Ice Creams. I embossed the chipboard to give some texture to the cones. I then applied Liquid Pearls to the top of the cones. I finished the tag with a vellum border, a sentiment sticker, and some ribbon. What's your favorite flavor of ice cream?
