Top 10 Off-The-Page Projects of 2016

Hi! Today is the last day of my recap of 2016. Thanks so much for joining me over the past 4 days! I've shared my top layouts, my favorite cards and tags, and I dedicated an entire post to my love of chipboard. Something new for me this year is the large number of off-the-page projects I created. I really expanded my artistic range and had a lot of fun altering surfaces like wood, glass, and fabric. Follow the links to view the full posts.

No-Sew Christmas Table Runner - Canvas Corp Brands

Thanks so much for joining me this week!
My goals for 2016 were to finish 3 December Daily albums from past years, to dig into my Project Life stash (a goal that has been carried over from 2015), and the 52 Lists project. I have managed to finish two out of three December Daily albums and I'm finishing up the last couple assignments in my 52 Lists project. I'm going to start on Project Life in 2017 for sure! This look back over the year has provided a ton of eye candy, but not a lot of documentation. I need to get better at dating and including journaling on my work and I think Project Life is a great way to do both in a fun artistic way. Maybe one goal is enough this time around! I'm looking forward to a creative 2017! I have joined some new design teams and I'm full of ideas. I hope you'll stick around!

Top 10 Chipboard Projects of 2016

Hi! Thanks for joining me for day three of my recap of 2016! I've shared my top layouts and favorite cards and tags over the past two days. My longest design term has been for Tando Creative. I'm quickly approaching my 5th year as a designer on their team! I really love expressing myself by creating small chipboard pieces. This is the first time that I have dedicated a round-up to one manufacturer, but I crafted so many pieces that I still love, that today is dedicated to them. Sparkle A Little Brighter Non-Candy Valentines - Clearsnap

Hi! I'm sharing some non-candy valentines on the Clearsnap blog today. I had a lot of fun stamping up these bright, sparkly cards. I kept the design simple so this project wouldn't be too time consuming or expensive. The dye ink I used is fast-drying, so you can stamp up enough cards for a classroom or two in under an hour!

Santa Tag - Gecko Galz 24 Tags of Christmas

Hi! I'm sharing a tag I created for the Gecko Galz 30 Tags of Christmas event. This will be my last post as part of the Gecko Galz team and I'm so happy to leave the team with a project that is full of holiday cheer.

Instructions:

1. Cut a piece of red patterned paper to fit onto a black shipping tag. Punch the left side of the paper and attach it to the tag.

2. Cut the image of sheet music from the Alter It Digital Collage Set and glue it to the bottom right corner of the tag.

3. Layer two small rectangular holly print patterned papers onto the center of the tag.

4. Cut the Santa bingo card from the Alter It Digital Collage Set and glue it to the top left corner of the tag.

5. Cut a Santa image from the Rockwell Christmas Digital Collage Set and glue it to the top right corner of the tag. Add a Santa button to the bottom left corner of the image.

6. Tuck red flowers and leaves between the layers of the tag on the top right and bottom left corners of the tag. Add a Merry Christmas die-cut to the bottom left corner of the tag.

7. Glue white lace flowers along the left side of the tag.

8. Tie green ribbon into a bow for the top of the tag. Tie a red bulb embellishment to the top of the tag with white twine.

Much love to you and yours this holiday season! Send an email to geckogalz2014@gmail.com to claim your prize pack.

Music Fuels the Soul - Pion Design

Hi! I'm sharing a layout I created for Pion Design using the new Where the Roses Grow collection. The color palette is a gorgeous combination of muted pastels that aren't too overwhelming for even the toughest men in your life. The wood grain patterned paper is my favorite from this line, not only for the print, but for the versatility.

I added soft layers of torn papers and lace under my photo, but also incorporated some more manly textures like metal and wood to help balance my design.

Canvas Corp Brands Countdown to Christmas - Tangled Greeting Card Set

Hi! The Canvas Corp Brands Creative Crew is having a Countdown to Christmas card event this month. If you like to create your Christmas cards you won't want to miss these inspirational posts! I started this card set with 7 Gypsies Kraft and Canvas Stitched Greeting Cards to save time. I then added a pile of festive patterned papers and an embellished scallop tag. The Tattered Tangled Tags and Card Pack has a fantastic mix of zentagle style designs for a variety of holidays. These images are quick to color with Shimmers, and they gave my cards a jovial focal point that is perfect for celebrating the holiday season.

Supplies:
7 Gypsies 5x7 Kraft & Canvas Stitched Greeting Cards
7 Gypsies Mini Antique Brass Metal Keys
7 Gypsies Antique Silver Jump Rings
7 Gypsies Santa's Journey Charms
Tattered Angels Tattered Tangles Pack - Tags and Cards
Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze - Waterfall
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist - Sherbert, Rum Punch
Tattered Angels Shimmers - Yellow-Green, Blue-Green, Red-Orange, Goldenrod
Canvas Corp White Scallop Tags and Ties
Canvas Corp Gold & White Star
Canvas Corp Red Patchwork on White
Canvas Corp Hunter Green & White Trees
Canvas Corp Hunter Patchwork on White
Canvas Corp Waxed Cotton Cord - White
Poinsettias
Paper Leaves - Gold, Green
Clear Sentiment Stickers

Step 1: Use Tattered Angels products to color two cards from the Tattered Tangles Tags and Cards Pack. I used blues and greens for one card and reds, pinks, and oranges for the other. Please refer to the above supply list for the colors.

Step 2: Cut, punch, and die-cut festive patterned papers from the Canvas Corp Holiday Miscellanies collection. Add a Mini Antique Brass Metal Key and one Santa's Journey Charm to a Silver Jump Ring. Attach the jump ring to the hole in a White Scallop Tag. Arrange the patterned papers and tags in a pleasing manner and staple them together.

Step 3: Glue each patterned paper stack to the front of a 7 Gypsies 5x7 Kraft & Canvas Stitched Greeting Card.

Step 4: Embellish each card with flowers, leaves, a white cotton cord bow, and a clear sentiment sticker.

I hope you enjoyed this quick tutorial! I like to use a mix of supplies to create a look I like. I try to purchase neutral products and variety packs that I can use all year long, and adding seasonal colors to design for specific holidays. I really love the way 7 Gypsies, Tattered Angels, and Canvas Corp products work so well together.
