Call from the Wild Bracelet - Video Tutorial for FabScraps

Call From the Wild Endangerd Animal Pendant and Beaded Bracelet Video Tutorial by Dana Tatar for FabScraps

Hi! I'm so in love with the new FabScraps Call from the Wild collection! If you love animals, this collection is a must-have. I created this bracelet using the Clear Postage Stamp Stickers, which are just as, if not more, beautiful than the patterned paper in this line. I created a video tutorial for how I put this piece together.

I up-cycled some discount jewelry and used the jewelry hardware that I had on hand to put this bracelet together. I hope you like the tutorial!

Read on if you prefer the written instructions.

Supplies:
FabScraps Call From The Wild Clear Stamps Stickers (ST91 002)
White Cardstock
Circle Pendant Trays
Glass Circle Cabochons
Beads and Charms
Beading Wire
Glaze
Jewelry Making Hardware and Tools
Scissors

Directions:

Step 1: Apply Clear Stamp Stickers to a piece of white cardstock. Add a drop of glaze to each sticker and cover with a glass circle cabochon. Let Dry.

Step 2: String beads onto beading wire. Create several strands for a multi-layered bracelet. Mix the color and type of beads on a single strand for added interest. This is a fun way to re-purpose old or broken jewelry.

Step 3: Cut the excess cardstock from the dry glass cabochons. Add glaze to the circle pendant trays and top with the embellished cabochons. Let dry.

Step 4: Attach the strands of beads and pendants together on a c-ring. Add charms and a clasp.
This line is a great way to celebrate your favorite wild animals that may be unfortunately endangered, vulnerable, protected, vanishing, and/or threatened. FabScraps is donating a portion of the sales from this line to the Wildlife Conservation Network.

Lion Layout - FabScraps

African Lion Layout by Dana Tatar for FabScraps - Call From The Wild Collection

Hi! I created this layout for FabScraps using the new Call from the Wild collection. The big cats are some of my favorite animals. This photo is from my cousin's travels to Africa. It would be totally amazing to see this beautiful lion in real life! Whether you prefer to see animals in the wild or at the zoo, this new line is perfect for documenting your favorite furry friends.

Distress Ink Colored and Glazed Chipboard Tree on Distressed Corrugated Cardboard by Dana Tatar

I played with texture on this page, using lots of corrugated cardboard, chipboard, and burlap.

The coordinating chipboard in this collection is fantastic, and I don't let any go to waste. I created a chipboard photo frame with a paw print and the waste from the 2 Trees Chipboard.

Stenciled Big Cat Lion Footprints on a Nature Scrapbook Page by Dana Tatar

The Call from the Wild Carder's Pack contains a lot of beautiful patterned tags. There are two stencils in this line. I used the Wild Footprints to add some lion track across the page.

Tweet Acrylic Mixed Media Board - Tando Creative

Tweet Bird In Next Acrylic Mixed Media Board by Dana Tatar for Tando Creative

Hi! I'm sharing the Acrylic Mixed Media Board I altered for the Stampendous theme this week on the Tando Creative Design Blog. Tando has recently expanded their product line to include MDF and acrylic pieces, so be sure to stop by the Store and check out the offerings if you haven't done so already.

Coloring Stamped Images on Acrylic with Alcohol Ink by Dana Tatar

I used the Stampendous Nestled Bird Wood Mount Stamp (R158) with Colorbox Beyond Black Surfacez Ink, which is a fast-drying pigment ink designed to work on slick surfaces. I heat set the stamped image and then added color with alcohol ink.

After the image was colored I embellished the edge of the board with Stampendous Spoonful of Gold Dust. I wasn't able to heat the Gold Dust from underneath to coat the edges of this board, so I used some Top Boss Watermark Ink to help hold the product in place while I applied heat. I finished this piece with a sticker sentiment and some twine.

You can find the acrylic I used for this project, and a wonderful selection of Stampendous products, in the Tando Creative Retail Store. We'd love to see your creativity! Share your work with us in Tando's Creative Zone on Facebook.

Same Boat - Tando Creative

Dr. Martin Luther King Quote Same Boat Painted Chipboard Boat Hanging by Dana Tatar for Tando Creative

Hi! I've altered a portion of the Boat Hanging for the Anything Goes theme this week on the Tando Creative Design Blog. With Monday being Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, I used one of his quotes on this piece.

I painted all the pieces of the boat with a layer of DecoArt White Gesso. Once that was dry, I mixed up a colorful palette of fluid acrylics using DecoArt Primary Magenta, Cyan, and Yellow. I glued the porthole circles to metal coin for a more nautical feel. Once all the pieces were dry and glued together I added the quote with a black pen.

Fragile Tag - Tando Creative

Stamped Watercolor Fragile Tag by Dana Tatar for Tando Creative

Hi! I'm sharing the tag I created for the Tag theme this week on the Tando Creative Design Blog. I cut a tag from a piece of Tando packaging and then applied DecoArt Gesso over the surface with a spatula for a textured finish. Once the gesso was dry, I added color to the tag with Gelatos.

Then, I placed the Giovanna Doilie Stencil over the tag and traced around it with a black pen. Next, I stamped a woman into the center of the stenciled design. I colored the stenciled design and the stamped image with watercolors. I further embellished the tag with two painted leaves from the Leaf Branch with 3 Loose Leaves. I stamped a sentiment, added some doodles and tape to the tag, and then attached a tassel to the top to finish.

The One Who Loves You Arch - Tando Creative

George Michael Tribute Mixed Media Arch by Dana Tatar for Tando Creative

Happy New Year! I'm sharing the arch I created for the Color Theme on the Tando Creative Design Blog. I am still in shock over the passing of George Michael. He was one of my favorite artists and I'm mourning this loss by listening to his catalog. I used some of his song lyrics on this piece.

Musical Cherub Among Flowers on a George Michael Tribute Arch by Dana Tatar

I started this piece with one layer of the Arabian-Style Layered Arch Frame. I painted the frame with DecoArt Primary Cyan Fluid Acrylic, and then added a top coat of DecoArt Gold Interference for a subtle shimmer. Once the frame was dry, I backed it with a piece of vellum and then a piece of patterned paper.

I embellished the arch with flowers, ribbon, lace, patterned paper, and a resin angel. I distressed the frame with white paint and then added a decorative border with dimensional paint and a teardrop rhinestone. I added lyrics to finish the piece.

You can find the chipboard I used for this project, and a wonderful selection of DecoArt products, in the Tando Creative Retail Store. We'd love to see your take on this color palette! Share your work with us in Tando's Creative Zone on Facebook.
