Patriotic Denim Flower Pin

Hi! I'm sharing the quick tutorial for how I turned a denim flower into a patriotic pin today. My husband goes all-out in the wardrobe department for patriotic holidays. While he feels comfortable wearing stars and stripes patterned pants and a top hat, I'm much more comfortable wearing a small piece of flair with a bit of sparkle. I altered a plain denim flower with some of my favorite craft supplies to create this pin.

ColorBox Feisty Red Pigment Ink by Teresa Collins
ColorBox Clear Embossing Powder
Clearsnap Sapphire Glitter

Hot Fix Rhinestones

Step 1: Apply red pigment ink onto a flourish stamp. Press the stamp onto the denim flower. Repeat this process until the petals are covered.

Step 2: Sprinkle the stamped flourishes with clear embossing powder. Shake off the excess powder and apply heat to set.

Step 3: Apply E-Z Stars to the flower. Sprinkle blue glitter over the stars. Press the glitter onto the adhesive stars by hand to help with adhesion. Shake off the excess glitter.

Step 4: Use the HotMarks tool to secure hot fix rhinestones onto the flower. Note: Hot fix rhinestones are great when you want a permanent hold. If you don't have hot fix rhinestones or a hot tool, rhinestone embellishments can be glued on instead.

Step 5: Add a rhinestone pin to the flower center.

Step 6: Use a hot glue gun to attach a pin back to the back side of the flower.

This project could be easily adapted into a hair tie or hair clip by swapping out the pin back for a different backing. I'm ready to celebrate the Memorial and Independence Day holidays. If you, a friend, or a loved one is or has been in the military, thank you for your service!
