Perfect Day - FabScraps

Hi! I'm sharing a layout that I created for FabScraps using their Summer Loving collection. I've traveled a lot over the last couple of months. My favorite trip was to Lake Huron. We took off from there and drove up to Mackinac Island for a 2-day trip. My daughters have never been to an island or rode on a ferry, so this was a really fun experience for them. I took this picture as we were passing under the Mackinac Bridge on the ferry ride to the island.

I really love the prints on the B-sides of the papers in this collection. I used the stencil from the collection that matches the Beach Babe B-side patterned paper on the top of the layout to highlight that fun pattern. There are two colorful striped patterned papers in this collection. I cut some strips from one piece of paper to expand my color palette a bit.

If you're on the water in Michigan there is a good chance to see a lighthouse and a sailboat. We saw both on this trip so I added those embellishments to the corner of the photo.

These sunglasses are part of the Beach Wear Chipboard Set. If you're on the water, you've got to have some shades.

I kept this page design pretty clean and simple, which is what the beach is all about for me.

How to Create a Vacation Layout with the FabScraps Summer Loving Collection

Supplies:
Summer Loving Seashells Patterned Paper (C93 004)
Summer Loving Beachwear Patterned Paper (C93 005)
Summer Loving Beach Babe Patterned Paper (C93 006)
Summer Loving Lighthouse Patterned Paper (C93 007)
Summer Loving Carder’s Pack Die-Cut Tag (MC93 001)

Directions:

1. Cut 1-inch from the top and one side of the Beachwear patterned paper. Apply brown dye ink to the edges of the paper. Glue tan ric rac trim onto two sides of the paper. Glue to a piece of Beach Babe patterned paper, lining up the two bottom right corners.

2. Apply light modeling paste over the stencil onto the center and top right corner of the Beachwear patterned paper. Let dry.

3. Cut a pink and orange stripe from the Lighthouse patterned paper. Apply brown dye ink to the edge of each paper strip. Trim the paper strips and glue to the layout over the center of the stenciled design. Glue a small piece of the pink paper strip to the top right corner of the page.

4. Cut a rectangle slightly larger than the photo from the Seashells patterned paper. Apply brown dye ink to the edges of the paper. Glue the paper down on top of the colored paper strips. Attach the photo over this piece of paper.

5. Cut a small piece from a die-cut tag to use as a journal spot. Apply brown dye ink to the edges of the tag. Add journaling to the tag with a black pen/ Glue the tag under the photo.

6. Add embellishments. Color the Perfect Day Chipboard Words and the Chipboard Sunglasses with black dye ink. Glue the Perfect Day Chipboard Words to the top left corner of the photo. Glue the Chipboard Sunglasses to the top right corner of the layout. Place a clear lighthouse sticker onto a piece of white cardstock, cut out, and glue to the bottom left corner of the photo. Glue a silver yacht charm to the left of the lighthouse.
