Colorful Pop Up Thank You card with Stamped and Collage Images

I altered a piece of junk mail to create a fun and colorful pop-up thank you card. I used some of my favorite stamp sets and clip art sheets for this project.

Junk Mail Pop Up Thank You Card Before Altering

Here is the card that I started with. I thought the pop-up "THANKS" was really cool. This card was cut from thick cardstock, so it was a great base for painting and stamping.

Junk Mail Pop Up Thank You Card Before Altering

Before I started altering this card, I carefully detached the "THANKS" pop-up tabs from the card. Next, I covered that portion of the card with a piece of deli paper so that the sentiment area would stay white while I worked.

Junk Mail Card Neutralized with a Layer of White Gesso

I brushed on a couple layers of white gesso to neutralize the text and images on the card.

Junk Mail Card Covered with Bright Acrylic Paint

Next, I painted blocks of bright colors onto the inside of the card. I tried not to think too hard during this step. There are a lot of different techniques that I could have used to paint the base of this card. Color blending and stenciling would look great.

Stamped and Collageed Junk Mail Pop Up Thank You Card

I used several stamp sets with black archival ink to decorate the inside of the card. I painted a portion of the stamped area white so that I would have somewhere to write a message. I filled in some of the stamped images with contrasting colors of paint. I also added some doodling. I used several clip art sheets to add some fun graphics to the card. There isn't a right or wrong way to design this card. The possibilities are really endless.

Once the card was dry, I reattached the pop-up element to the card. I covered the front and back of the card with plain white cardstock so that all the fun color is a surprise upon opening.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Make sure to head on over to the Paper Wings Productions Blog to finish the hop.
