Hi! I'm sharing a stenciled butterfly wood frame that I altered for Clearsnap today. One of my favorite Art Screens Trio sets from Clearsnap is the Butterfly set. ColorBox Art Screens Trios are sets of three unique stencil images designed for use in sequence to create beautiful layered art. Each screen can be used individually or together. A big advantage to these layered sets is that the separate stencil screens allow for precise color application, which produces a crisp and clean image every time.
Rather than place a picture in the frame, I decided to use a silhouette of my oldest daughter. I colored the wood frame insert with ColorBox Crafter's Ink to create a colored background for the silhouette. I couldn't create a piece of home décor without a touch of bling. I used a set of letter masks to outline my daughter's name onto the frame. I then colored in the letters with Copper Smooch Ink. It really sparkles in the light, providing a nice contrast with the rustic bark edge of the frame.
How to Embellish a Wood Frame with ColorBox Crafter's Ink and Art Screens
Use an Art Dauber to apply Berry Crafter’s Ink onto the wood frame photo insert.
Use 3D Foam Squares to attach a child's silhouette to the wood frame photo insert.
Place the first stencil from the Butterfly Art Screens Trio onto the frame. Use Art Daubers to apply Blueberry and Limelight Crafter’s Ink over the screen. Remove the screen and use a heat tool to dry the ink.
Place the second stencil from the Butterfly Art Screens Trio onto the frame. Make sure that the stencil is aligned with the first stenciled design. Use an Art Dauber to apply Aquamarine Crafter’s Ink over the screen. Remove the screen and use a heat tool to dry the ink.
Place the third stencil from the Butterfly Art Screens Trio onto the frame. Make sure that the stencil is aligned with the previous stenciled designs. Use an Art Dauber to apply Night Crafter’s Ink over the screen. Remove the screen and use a heat tool to dry the ink. Repeat the previous three steps to add two more butterflies to the frame.
Use a pencil and a letter mask set to add a name to the bottom of the frame.
Fill in the stenciled letters with Copper Smooch Accent Ink. Use a heat tool to dry the ink.
