You Are My Sunshine Summer Watermelon Layout with Painted Chipboard Embellishments

Hi! I'm sharing a fun Summer scrapbook layout that I made for Creative Embellishments today. My girls are out of school in just under 6 weeks, and then we're planning on hitting the beach. The favorite snack while playing in the sand is ice cold watermelon. When my girls are together with their 6 cousins, they can make a watermelon disappear fast. I used October Afternoon patterned papers, die-cuts, and puffy stickers, and complemented them with chipboard embellishments, that I colored with acrylic paint.

I love a good sunburst print. I used the center of the pattern to hold my title. First, I layered die-cuts and stickers. Then, I colored the You Are My Sunshine Chipboard Title, with acrylic paint. To make the painting process easier, I carefully cut the sun from the words and painted the pieces separately. Once the chipboard dried, I fit the pieces back together and secured them to the page. I added yellow enamel dots down several of the sun rays to help the eye move around the page.

I had a lot of fun painting these Watermelon pieces. I used two of the six designs from the set for this layout. I've been feeling fruity lately, and have stocked up on these chipboard designs for use on all my favorite Spring and Summer activities. Be sure to visit the Fruit Section in the Creative Embellishments Store.
