Miss Somebody Artist Trading Card - More Than Words Challenges

Mixed Media Artist Trading Card with Crackled Rice Paper Background and Acetate Butterfly

Hi! I'm sharing the artist trading card that I created for the More Than Words July 2020 Mini Challenge. You won't want to MISS out on our Mini Challenge this month!

I created this trading card using the beautiful Wind Beneath My Wings Limited Edition Kit from Clique InternationalI cut a portion of the Ciao Bella Sound of Spring Rice Paper to fit onto my card. Once I painted the card a turquoise color, I adhered the rice paper to the card using matte multi-medium. Then I used a metallic gold ink to add some stamped swirls to the card. To add more texture to the design, I applied a layer of Distress Clear Rock Candy Crackle Paint over the paper.  Next, to highlight the cracks, I applied several shades of Lindy's Magicals watercolors.

As usual, I was inspired by a song. I used lyrics from Chris Cornell song "Wave Goodbye" for this card. I printed the lyrics onto paper that I colored with a Distress marker. To finish the card I added an acetate butterfly, an embellishment that I think is a good symbol for beauty.
