Carpe Diem Art Journal Page - More Than Words Challenges

 

Hi! I'm sharing the art journal spread that I created for the More Than Words March Main Challenge CARPE DIEM and MARKMAKING. I often wish I could carry the sun around on a string so that I could CARPE DIEM shining in bright light and warmth. It is definitely harder to get motivated on the darker days. I enjoyed MARKMAKING around the stenciled and stamped designs on these art journal pages.

I prepped the book page base with gesso and then added pink, orange, and yellow watercolor paints that reminded me of a sunrise. Once the paint was dry I applied blue chalk ink over the Distressed Patterns Stencil from Creative Embellishments. I used the Susan K. Weckesser Create Your Day Stamp Set (Unity Stamp Co.) to add the sun on a string and used yellow watercolor paint to fill it in. I stamped the words Carpe Diem with black ink.

Once the basic page elements were down, I had fun making marks on this spread. I used a black pen and created a border around the pages. I also traced some of the stenciled circles and added more lines to the center of the sun. I used a white paint pen to add small dots to the stamped letters. I applied a pink puffy heart sticker to the sun to finish the spread.
