I'm very fortunate to have descended from an amazing group of strong women. I'm celebrating the HEROINES on the Paternal side of my family on this art journal spread. My Great Great Grandmother was born in Algeria and went on to give birth to two daughters in France.
They eventually emigrated to the USA after my Great Great Grandmother was widowed. Who knows where I would be without their courage! I used watercolor PAINT to color the background of the page and gold spray paint on the chipboard globe.
I'm sure there were important men in their lives, but I never heard about any of them, so I changed the word hero to HEROINES. I embellished the globes with patterned papers from the gorgeous Prima Diamond collection using the Clique World Heritage Mosi-Oa-Tunya Kit.
I used a Prima Marketing stencil with a white crayon to create a resist pattern that was revealed after I applied Amy Tangerine Brave and Bold Watercolor Paint to the pages. Once the pages were dry I used stencils to add patterns to the background that complemented the patterned papers in the Diamond collection. I also added some doodles by hand.
Not all heroes wear capes! Who is your HERO (or HEROINE)? Is it your father, a child, or a friend? Maybe a sportsperson or an artist. Perhaps your hero does appear in a comic book or on screen. Whoever it is, we want to hear about it! For the creative challenge add PAINT to your project.
