Rainbow Bagel Traveler's Notebook Spread - Clique International

 

Hi! I'm sharing a traveler's notebook spread that I created with the Helsinki Eco-Friendly Documenter Kit from Clique International. The notebooks in all of the eco-friendly documenter kits are crafted by women artisans from Nepal in a fair-trade network so that they can improve the economic conditions for themselves and their families. My daughter and I will be using this notebook to document our adventures in bread baking. We've selected some recipes from Pinterest and also have Paul Hollywood's 100 Great Breads cookbook. We started with a Rainbow Bagel kit that my daughter received for Christmas. There is nothing better than a homemade bagel! 

To keep with the eco-friendly theme of this notebook, I used part of the bagel kit packing on these pages. I chose a vellum star from the kit and a Freckled Fawn Label Sticker from a past kit to add some journaling to the page.

I immediately fell in love with this piece of emerald and gold glitter handmade paper. I used another Freckled Fawn Label Sticker along the bottom of the page along with a Jen Hadfield Rainbow Clip from a past kit.

This fun rainbow dot patterned paper was just what I needed for this rainbow bagel page! 

Since writing this blog post, my daughter and I have baked two more delicious bread dishes, so look for more documentation coming soon!

These kits may be different from what we are used to as scrapbookers and paper crafters, but the bottom line is our Earth is in trouble and doing nothing is not an option if we care about the next generation. I personally love the manilla colored pages in this notebook. The modern documenter will appreciate buying eco-friendly and fair-trade supplies to craft with and making this carefree style of documenting part of their lifestyle. Scaled down with the ability to attach photos and embellishments as well as journal all of your thoughts and memories, this kit (and the others like it) will inspire you to create outside the box. In order for scrapbooking to be viable in the future it is essential that we make it eco-conscious and sensitive to issues like exploitative labor practices and even slavery/trafficking that results from wide economic disparity throughout the world.
