Bushel & a Peck Love Themed Scrapbook Layout - Brutus Monroe

Love themed scrapbook layout with embossed resist watercolor background, patterned paper origami hearts, hand stitched borders, and a die-cut title.

Hi! I'm sharing a scrapbook layout that I created for Brutus Monroe today. The love themed products are perfect for use all year long, but I went a little extra for this layout to share during the month of February. Date night with my sweetheart usually includes a photo like this taken before, during, or after a live rock show. If I'm not spending my money on art supplies, I am splurging on concert tickets!

I started this layout by spreading a layer of matte medium onto a piece of 8.5x11 Not Your Mamas Cardstock. Then, I applied Embossing Ink over the Weave Slimline Stencil and topped that with a layer of Icicle Embossing Powder which I set with heat. I added drops of Red Aqua Pigment onto the embossed design, spritzed it with water, and tilted the cardstock to spread the ink. I love a good resist background! I'm a 12x12 scrapbooker, so I adhered the embossed cardstock onto a piece of white 12x12 cardstock.

Next, I had fun with patterned paper. I cut scalloped border pieces from the Be Mine Paper Pad and placed them on the layout on either side of the embossed cardstock and used the Stitched Borders Stencil to add a template for hand stitching down the straight edge of the scalloped paper. I stitched through the punched design with red embroidery floss.

I embellished the layout with origami hearts that were folded from pieces of paper cut to size from the Be Mini Paper Pad. I'm not an expert paper folder, so I distressed the edges of the hearts to hide some of the imperfections. I also cut X’s and O’s from pattered paper to place around the page to play up the love theme of this layout.

I used the Bushel and a Peck dies with white and black cardstock to create the title for this layout. I applied Scarlet Glitter Glaze to the heart on the die-cut title for a touch of sparkle.
