Circus Mini Album - Brutus Monroe

Dana Tatar shares her nostalgic circus mini album created from upcycled candy and snack packaging featuring shakers, dimensional popcorn, and crystals.

Hi! I had a blast creating this circus mini album out of upcycled candy and snack packaging for Brutus Monroe. I covered the cardboard packaging pages with patterned paper from the Circus Life Paper Pad and then added fun embellishments like a small shaker, dimensional popcorn, and crystals. I really felt like a kid again working with this nostalgic collection.

I cut the elephant and yellow stars from patterned paper to embellish the page on the left. The page on the right is a cardboard popcorn box. I embellished it with a stamped ticket a fussy cut black star. I had a lot of fun creating the popcorn to fill the top of the box.

I started with a white cardstock base. I added lines using Black Glue and then filled in the white space using the Carnival Corn Embossing Powder of the Month. The texture and dimension on this page is fantastic!

I embellished both sides of the popcorn box the same way. The page on the right is decorated with more designs cut from the patterned papers in this collection.

One of the candy boxes I used for the pages had a window, so I was halfway to a shaker. I stamped a P. T. Barnum quote for the page on the right using the Marquee Sentiments Stamp Set.

I covered the shaker box with patterned paper, embellished the front of the box with designs cut from patterned paper, and then added shaker fill using Scarlet Glitter and The Gambler Sprinkletz. I used the paper pad packaging to add the circus life header across the top of the page.

I stamped another P. T. Barnum quote for the page on the left. The page on the right features an animal card that I cut from a piece of patterned paper. I embellished the card with flat back crystals for a touch of sparkle. I added black and yellow fussy cut stars around the page.

The page on the left is another animal card design. The right page is a Barnum and Bailey poster that I cut from one of the patterned papers and more fussy cut stars.

The back cover is similar to the front. The Barnum's Animals Crackers box is so fun! Most of these cracker packages are foil or plastic now. I found the old-fashioned boxcar box of animal crackers at Walgreens. I bound the album together using my Mini Cinch Machine and then simply tied pieces of rainbow ribbon to the binding for a quick pop of color.

  1. This is so fun and creative! I used to get a box of these Animal Crackers (cookies) for my kids when I would take them grocery shopping with me. They could eat the cookies while we shopped. They only got these on our trips to the grocery so it made them more special. Thanks for all of the ideas!
