Hi! I created this summer scrapbook layout for Brutus Monroe. I'm not the only one soaking up the sun! I used UV paper with Mixed Media Stencils and Foilable Acetate to create cyanotype prints for this layout.
To prepare a print for sun exposure, place UV paper, blue side up, onto a base surface such as a piece of cardboard. Top the UV paper with a Mixed Media Stencil or a Foilable Acetate Sheet, then layer a heavy acrylic sheet over the top of that. (My package of UV paper included a heavy acrylic sheet.) Next, expose the paper to sunlight for several minutes. The paper is light-sensitive and will gradually turn a light blue.
To process the prints, submerge the UV paper in a tray of water for about 1 minute to rinse the artwork. The images will turn a lighter shade of blue during this process. To create a print with more intense blue tones, add a few drops of lemon juice to the tray of water. Once my prints were dry, I cut them to fill letters on the background of my layout.
I finished my design with simple stamped embellishments that I partially colored with a blue marker, a stamped sentiment, and crystals.
