I immediately thought of the song "Blackbird" by the Beatles when I sat down at my craft table to put this Scalloped Banner together. I used a bird from the Mini Birds Grab Bag, which I covered with patterned paper and attached that to the banner along with the printed song lyrics.

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to be free

Blackbird fly, blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night

Blackbird fly, blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise

I painted the scalloped base with black paint.  I misted the triangular pieces with Black Marble Dylusions Ink Spray and then dabbed them with a paper towel while they were still wet to get the nice grey tone.  I added some fun crackle texture with a Tim Holtz Crackle stamp and some embossing powder.

Thanks for stopping by today!  The next stop on the hop is Gez's Blog.
