Hi! I'm sharing a tutorial for how I colored the embossed foil tape and metal shamrock using the NEW ColorBox ColoriQue by Lisa Marie Jimenez line of products from Clearsnap for this artist trading card. I've struggled with finding ink that will "stick" to foil tape and I'm happy to report that my search is over! Not only did the ColoriQue "stick" to the foil without any prep work, I was also able to blend the colors in a beautiful way.

Multi-Purpose HVAC Foil Tape

Step 1: Cut a piece of cardstock to fit an embossing folder. Cut strips of foil tape to size and apply them to the piece of cardstock. Fold any overhanging tape over onto the back of the cardstock. Note: Applying the foil tape to a piece of cardstock helps add strength to the tape. Multi-purpose HVAC foil tape is available from hardware stores for about $8 for a 50 yard roll.
Step 2: Emboss the foiled cardstock. Note: I used the Large Damask Flourish Embossing Folder from Couture Creations, which is large enough to create two artist trading cards.
Step 3: Apply several colors of ColoriQue directly onto the foiled cardstock.
Step 4: Use Art Daubers to blend the ColoriQue. Set aside to dry for a couple of minutes, or speed up the drying process with a heat tool.
Step 5: Cut the foiled cardstock to size, 3.5 x 2.5 inches. Use a sanding block to distress the raised pattern and the edges of the cardstock.
Step 6: Attach the foiled cardstock to an artist trading card base. Cereal boxes work great!
Step 7: Paint a metal shamrock with ColoriQue. I used Moss Landing for all over color. While that base coat was still wet, I applied Honey Bee and blended with a paintbrush to spread a lighter shade of green to the petals. Set aside to dry, or speed up the process with a heat tool.
Step 8: Use a sanding blog to remove the ColoriQue from the raised areas and edges of the shamrock.
Step 9: Attach embellishments to the card with hot glue. Note: I painted the piece of decorative chipboard shown above with Snow Summit ColoriQue.
I also created a short video of this process:
