Jack and Sally Halloween Layout - Creative Embellishments

The Nightmare Before Christmas Jack and Sally Halloween Scrapbook Layout with Chipboard Embellishments

Hi! I'm sharing the layout I created for the Creative Embellishments October Challenge today. I absolutely love Halloween! I had a lot of fun making this layout that features my brother and niece dressed up as Jack and Sally from the Tim Burton movie The Nightmare Before Christmas. I recently ordered the film from Disney Movie Club, which came with some festive add-ons. These Jack and Sally party masks were a bit small for my pre-teen daughters, but they made absolutely spooktacular embellishments. I filled in the eye holes with black (Jack) and white (Sally) cardstock. I used a black marker to add dots to the center of Sally's eyes.

Here's the inspiration piece if you'd like to join the fun. The challenge is to take inspiration from at least one of the elements in the image and create a new project. The twist is to use multiple photos or images on your project. All artists whose entries meet these requirements that are submitted during the month of October are eligible for the prize drawing for a Gift Certificate to the Creative Embellishments Store!

I was inspired by the birds, bats, text, and overall creepy feel of the inspiration image. I included black and white, but monochromatic color palettes are a real challenge for me, so I incorporated colors that complemented my photos.

Black and White Striped Patterned Paper with Distressed Text and Circles Stamping

I like the multiple fonts in the inspiration piece. I added some text to the striped patterned paper by stamping with the Distressed Circle Stamp and the Distressed Text Stamp using black ink.

I added the Haunted House 2, which I think looks very Tim Burton, and two small bats from the Halloween Scene 2, to the top of the page. I used Tattered Angels Black Magic Glimmer Mist to color these chipboard pieces. I just love the gold shimmer!

Chipboard Happy Halloween Hashtag Title Colored with Tattered Angels Pomegranate Glimmer Mist

I used words from the Halloween Hashtags set for the title, which I colored with Tattered Angels Pomegranate Glimmer Mist. Instead of spraying the chipboard, like the house and bats, I applied the color with a paint brush. This method gives a more uneven finish, especially of the glimmer, which I think works well to create a more aged and creepy look.
