Be Grateful Mixed Media Bee Canvas - Clearsnap

Hi! I'm sharing a canvas that I created for Clearsnap today. I love bees and had a lot of fun putting together this layered canvas. I used ColorBox DyeStress Ink, Archival Dye Ink, and Color Eclipse Mixed Media Ink. Color Eclipse is absolutely fantastic to work with because it sticks to pretty much every surface. I used it on brass bees and rubber tile spacers (x shapes) for this project.

How to Create a Mixed Media Bee Canvas

Press ColorBox DyeStress Inkpads directly on to an Artboard. Use a wet paintbrush to spread the color. Apply DyeStress ink to a craft mat and spritz with water to create watercolor ink to further paint the board.

Stamp the entire artboard with the linked hexagon stamp from the ColorBox Bumble Bee Journal ClearStamps Set and ColorBox Mudslide Archival Dye Ink.

Glue rubber tile spacers to the artboard. Use a paintbrush to apply Vermillion and Lemon ColorBox Color Eclipse Mixed Media Ink to the rubber shapes. Mix and blend the two colors of ink directly on the rubber shapes to create new shades.

Clean two brass bee stampings with alcohol. Use a paintbrush to apply ColorBox Color Eclipse Mixed Media Ink to the bees. Let dry.

Use the ColorBox Butterfly ClearStamps Set and ColorBox Wicked Black Archival Dye Ink to stamp the sentiments "Be Grateful" and "For Small Wonders" onto a piece of white cardstock. Cut out. Color the sentiments with ColorBox Moonstone DyeStress Ink.

Dye a length of seam binding ribbon with ColorBox Moonstone DyeStress Ink. Either add a couple drops of Moonstone reinker to a plastic bag, or press the Moonstone DyeStress inkpad into a plastic bag. Spritz with water, close the ribbon inside the bag, and scrunch to transfer the ink to the ribbon. Remove the dyed ribbon from the bag and dry with a heat gun.

Glue the bees and the sentiments onto the artboard.

Tie the ribbon into a bow around the bottom half of the canvas.
