Crafter's Ink Canvas High Tops

Hand-Stenciled and Colored High Top Shoe Tutorial for Back to School

Hi! I used ColorBox Crafter's Ink and an Art Screen to dress up a plain white pair of canvas high tops. I chose a bold color palette, using Evergreen, Fire, Sunshine, Wave, Tangelo, Aquamarine, Purple, Berry and Night Crafter's Ink. If you think your Cat's Eye Inkpads can't tackle larger projects, think again! These hand-colored high tops are the perfect accessory for back to school!

Directions:

1. Use a pencil and the ColorBox Starpoint Art Screen to trace a pattern onto both sides of each shoe.

2. Apply color to the shoes one design element and ink color at a time. Use masking tape to section off specific areas for color application. Press one color of Crafter's Ink directly onto the shoe until the canvas is covered. If necessary, use a damp paintbrush to spread the ink for uniform coverage. Remove the masking tape and dry the ink with a heat gun. Repeat this process until the sides of the shoes are colored. Ink colors used on the sides of the shoe: Fire, Purple, Wave, Evergreen, Sunshine, Night.

3. Apply Aquamarine Crafter's Ink onto the tongue of each shoe. If necessary, use a wet paintbrush to spread the ink for uniform coverage. Use the ColorBox Starpoint Art Screen and a pencil to trace two stars onto the top of the tongue of each shoe. Use masking tape to frame the edges of the stars. Press Tangelo Crafter's Ink directly onto the shoe to color the stars. Remove the masking tape and dry the ink with a heat gun.

4. To color the back ankle area of each shoe, apply masking tape to both sides of the vertical strip of canvas. Apply Evergreen Crafter's Ink directly onto the shoes until the canvas is covered. If necessary, use a wet paintbrush to spread the ink for uniform coverage. Remove the masking tape and dry the ink with a heat gun.

5.Use Tuxedo Smooch Accent Ink to outline the stenciled pattern on the shoes for a more polished finish. Dry the ink with a heat gun.

6. Dye the shoe laces with Berry Crafter's Ink. Place the shoe laces into a small plastic bag. Press Berry Crafter's Ink onto the inside of the bag, spritz with water, and seal the bag. Roll the shoelaces into the pool of ink until completely covered. Apply more ink and water to the bag and continue to roll the laces in the ink until the desired shade of pink is reached. Let the laces dry completely before returning to the shoe.
