Dairy Farm Scrapbook Layout with DIY Cow Print Paper

Hi! I'm sharing a layout that I created for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L today. Last Summer, my Mom organized a trip to Noll Dairy Farm for my daughters and their cousins. It was an amazing experience to see how milk is produced. We were able to pet some cows, who seemed happy to have visitors. My youngest daughter, documented on this layout, is on the receiving end of some cow licks.

The animal print patterned papers that I have in my stash are more appropriate for wildlife than farm animals, so I created my own cow print patterned paper for this page using Adhesive Sheets and flocking powder. I couldn't be happier with the results!

Adhesive Sheet with Hand Drawn Cow Print Shapes

Use a permanent marker to draw cow print shapes onto an Adhesive Sheet. I used a 6x12 inch Adhesive Sheet for this layout. (Adhesive Sheets are also available in 4x6 inch and 12x12 inch.) I only needed to fill able half of a 12x12 piece of cardstock for this scrapbook page.

Adhesive Sheet Cut Into Cow Print Shapes

Use scissors to cut out the adhesive shapes.

White Cardstock with Adhesive Sheet Cow Print Shapes

Peel off the yellow backing liner and press the adhesive shapes onto a piece of white cardstock. Be sure to place some of the shapes off the edge of the page. Trim any overhanging shapes from the edge of the paper.

Adhesive Sheet Cow Print Shapes Covered with Black Flocking Powder

Remove the white liner from the adhesive shapes and sprinkle on black flocking powder. A dry fluffy paintbrush works great for spreading flock.

Add layers of patterned paper and embellishments to the layout to finish.

The design of this page is simple, so I added interest to the layout with textured embellishments like corrugated cardboard and foam letter stickers, embossed paper flowers, cow print flocked shapes, and twine.  I used 3D Foam to add height to the page. 3D Foam Squares worked great to raise the second photo off the base of the page. I used 3D Foam Circles to secure the paper flowers to the layout. Micro Adhesive Dots are the perfect size to help hold the twine bow in place.
