Hello Sunshine Vacation Scrapbook Layout - More Than Words Challenges

Tropical Vacation Scrapbook Layout with Stenciled Shell Background
Hi! I'm sharing the layout that I created for the August 2020 Main Challenge at More Than Words Challenges today. The challenge this month is to CHILL OUT and follow the SKETCH. I often think back on how lucky I was to be able to get away to the Dominican Republic this past January. It was the first vacation my husband and I took alone since we were married 16 years ago. I cherish the time that I had to CHILL OUT even more now that safe travel is no longer an option. I rotated the SKETCH one click to the left for a slightly different take on the original design.

How to Apply Molding Paste Over a Stencil to Create a Textured Print on a Scrapbook Layout

I wanted to add a nautical print to my patterned paper background. I love the color blend, but wanted some more texture and a design to help play up the the tropical theme of my layout. I chose a stencil from The Crafter's Workshop and spread Bad Girls Couture Molding Paste over the top. I love the contrast between the soft rainbow colors and the bright white shells.

Tropical Vacation Chipboard Stickers and Die-Cuts on a Scrapbook Layout
I added a portion of a journaling card, a die-cut, and a chipboard sticker over a tropical notecard to fulfill the main design requirements of the sketch. The selfie I took while lying under palm trees on the beaches of Punta Cana was perfect for this page!

How to Embellish a Vacation Scrapbook Layout with Layered Acetate Flowers
I applied layered acetate flower embellishments around the layout to fulfill the smaller circle elements on the sketch. The glitter and rhinestones on these stickers added a fun sparkle to the page.

How to Paint a Wood Veneer Title with Acrylic Paint for a Scrapbook Layout

Lastly, I painted a wood veneer title a bright sunny yellow and attached it to my page with small 3D Foam Squares for dimension.
