Hi! I'm super excited to share this 6x6 mini album that I created for Clique International. I used this album to document some summer shenanigans with the family using super fun products from Asuka Studio, Memory Place, Heffy Doodle, and the rare and highly collectible out-of-print Sassafras Lass.
I used an oversized paper clip and a piece of ribbon to bind this album. I'm constantly searching for new and easy ways to bind mini albums, and I found a lovely blog post about how to make rubber band books. It has been my experience that rubber bands tend to dry out and break, so I kept the paper clip idea and swapped out the rubber band for a piece of ribbon. After punching holes through the pages of my album, I folded the ribbon in half and pushed it though the hole on the top left of the album. Next, I hooked the loop of the ribbon onto the end of the paper clip. I pulled the ribbon tight and then around the back of the album and up through the hole on the right side of the binding. I tied the ribbon around the other end of the paper clip into a bow. I will definitely be using this type of binding again! I scored all the album pages at 1.5 inches to help the pages bend more easily. The oversized paper clip is from my stash from the 2017 Dear Lizzy Wood Icon Paper Clips Set. I removed the wood piece from the clip and will use it on another project.
I think I will always love a good shaker feature. It was easy to create my own shaker using the Heffy Doodle Shaker Die Tag Set. I filled the shaker with a sequin mix from a past kit and then embellished it with die-cuts, stickers, and rhinestones from the kits.
The Sassafras patterned papers from the kit are single-sided, so I adhered two pieces together to make my own double-sided paper for the album pages. I also did this with the cover cardstock. I cut a 12x12 piece of starburst patterned paper in half vertically, adhered the two pieces together with the starburst patterned paper print facing out, and then folded it in half to create the cover of this album.
This album documents the potato gun that the boys, my husband, father, and nephews, built this summer during our lake vacation. I had my doubts, but it actually worked, and nobody was hurt! I embellished the pages with patterned paper cut-a-parts, clear and cardstock die-cuts, and other embellishments from the kits.
This Sassafras collection is so fun! I didn't think I would see it again. Gia has a way of finding things, so if you miss discontinued and out-of-print products from your favorite old paper companies, you must keep an eye on the Lost and Found Section of the Clique International Shop. You never know what treasures will show up next!
