Happy Halloween Sparkle Card - Brutus Monroe

 

Hi! I added layers of shimmer to this Halloween card that features a fun Sparkle Overlay technique that uses up cardstock scraps for Brutus Monroe. The Firework Sparkle Overlay Sheet pulls double duty acting as an adhesive sheet for colorful cardstock strips, and as a brilliant top layer that adds sparkle and shine to the sentiment spot on this project. I created a similar card way back in January and thought it would be fun to revisit this technique with a fun Halloween twist.

Use the Simple Sentiments Cutting Die, or a paper trimmer, to cut orange, yellow, green, and purple cardstock scraps into strips.

I thought it would be fun to embellish some of the cardstock strips with small, stamped bats. Use Raven Detail Ink and the small bat stamp from the Halloween Glow Stamp Set to apply a bat to 5 strips of cardstock. Stamp the bats randomly and at different spots on each strip of cardstock.

Cut a piece of Firework Sparkle Overlay to roughly the size of an A2 Card Base. Apply a loop of tape to the work surface and press the overlay, sparkle side down, onto the tape. The tape will hold the overlay in place while working. Peel the backing layer off the overlay and press pieces of cardstock onto the sticky side of the overlay until it is completely covered. Add the strips with stamped bats together in two areas during this process.

Use Oval Nesting Dies to cut the cardstock covered overlay sheet and a backing layer of black cardstock. Glue the sparkle layer onto the black cardstock.

Use Clear Embossing Ink to stamp the Happy Halloween sentiment onto a piece of black cardstock. Sprinkle the sentiment with Vanilla Sugar Embossing Powder, gently tap off the excess embossing powder, and apply heat to set. Use scissors to cut the sentiment from the cardstock.

Assemble the card. Cut a piece of Sterling Chunky Glitterstock to measure 5 1/4 inches by 4 inches and glue onto the front of an A2 Card Base. Apply Foam Squares to the back of the oval sparkle layer and press onto the center of the card front. Apply Foam Squares to the back of the embossed sentiment and secure it to the front of the card as shown.

Here's my original card, that is perfect for an everyday greeting. This is one of my favorite techniques, and I could create a variation on this theme for any occasion.
