Hi! I'm sharing some rolodex cards that I altered for Clique International today. November is the month of Gratitude and Clique International is hosting a Memory Dex Challenge. Each week there is a prompt to inspire your gratitude memory dex card. Post your card for any of the prompts in the Clique Facebook Group before the end of the month for a chance to win a $25 store credit!
The prompt for week four is 'What song are you most grateful for?' My brain is about 90% song lyrics, so there is no way I could ever pick just one song. I have hundreds of CDs and have to admit that in this age of digital music, I still buy them. Why? Besides having a superior sound, I love the little booklet that comes along with the music. It usually contains photos of the band/musician (eye candy), excellent artwork (more eye candy), and if I'm lucky, the song lyrics. I've cataloged just over 350 of my favorite lyrics on colorful cards and have them stored on a Rolodex. This wheel of verses is the closest thing I have to a diary. Spinning through these cards makes me happy, not only because they are alphabetized, but because I know that they will serve as a starting point for a lot more great art.
I've been listening to a lot of Temple of the Dog and Amigo the Devil lately, so I chose lyrics from their songs to add to this rolodex. CLICK HERE to watch a video of this rolodex spinning.
To alter these rolodex cards I first applied Bad Girls Couture Acrylic Paint to the blank cards. One the paint was dry, I applied ink to two Vicki Boutin embossing folders and pressed the cards to transfer the design. I dried the ink with a heat tool and then added doodles with black and white pens. To finish the cards, I used correction tape as a base for the song lyrics.
