Soar Bird Stamped + Stitched Embroidery Hoop Art - Paper Wings Productions

Soar Bird Stamped + Stitched Embroidery Hoop Art by Dana Tatar

Hi! I'm thrilled to announce that I will once again be designing for Paper Wings Productions! I started my journey as a flight attendant back in December of 2012 and was part of the team until January of 2015. Since then, I've reached for these stamp sets over and over again, so when Carrie put out a design team call I jumped at the chance to work with her again. I'm sharing a new project today. I used two new to me stamp sets to create this piece; the Awake My Soul Cling Stamp and the Funky Lowercase Alphabet Cling Stamp Set.

Soar Bird Stamped + Stitched Embroidery Hoop Art Side View by Dana Tatar

I started this project by stamping the bird and the word "soar" onto a piece of muslin fabric with black archival ink. After setting the ink with heat, I stitched over the bird with several colors of floss. After securing the stamped and stitched fabric to the embroidery hoop, I added embellishments. I wrapped the outside edge of the hoop with a floral fabric tape. Most projects of mine are not complete without a touch of sparkle. I glued a strand of rhinestone trim around the top edge of the hoop. To finish this piece I glued a seam binding ribbon bow to the top of the hoop to hide the hardware.

This fun piece already has a place on my studio wall. Things with wings are some of my favorite subjects (bees, birds, and butterflies) and are found in a lot of my projects. I've included a small selection of some of those past pieces below along with links to the full blog posts.

Stamped Acrylic Window Bird Artist Trading Card by Dana Tatar
Stamped Acrylic Window Bird Artist Trading Card
This artist trading card was the first project I created for Paper Wings Productions back in January of 2013. This bird is part of the Bird Melange Stamp Set. I didn't realize until writing this post that I also used a bird stamp at the start of my last term. It seems fitting that I chose a bird for my first project of my new term as well!

Hope Mixed Media Canvas by Dana Tatar for Paper Wings Productions
Hope Canvas
I created this canvas with one of the Nesting Components Mixed Media Kits. This kit contained one of my favorite Clip Art Sheets and a fun mix of embellishments that were perfect for building up textured layers. The Pearlescent Watercolor Paint Set was really fun to work with!

My Heart Became A Bird Mixed Media Canvas by Dana Tatar
My Heart Became A Bird Canvas
A sentence from a book by one of my favorite writers, Megan Hart, and a bird nest were my inspiration for this mixed media canvas. This piece was published in The Stampers' Sampler Jan/Feb/Mar 2015 Vol. 22, Issue 1 on Page 52.

Ghoulish Greetings Skeleton Butterfly Canvas by Dana Tatar
Ghoulish Greetings Canvas
I love creating Halloween projects. I used several of my favorite PWP stamp sets for this small mixed media canvas. I'm absolutely thrilled to have my work published in the July/August/September 2017 issue of The Stampers' Sampler Magazine (affiliate link)! I sent in a canvas with the hopes of being showcased as part of the Frightful and Delightful Challenge and my wait is over!

Devonshire Lady Romantic Card Tutorial by Dana Tatar
Devonshire Lady Card
I went all out designing this card. I had a lot of fun embellishing not only the front of the card, but also the inside, which is a rarity for me. The inside of the card is stamped with a sentiment from the A Banner Day Clear Stamp Set. The sentiments reads:

Life is not measured
by the number of breaths we take
but by the number of
moments that take our
breath away.

How romantic! *Sigh* This card is published in Issue 2 of the Couture Creations Creative Inspiration Magazine along with a second card featuring a masculine silhouette. This magazine is FREE so please take a look!

I could keep going, but I'm going to stop myself here. Please take a moment to stop by the Paper Wings Productions blog to meet the rest of the team. We'll be back at the end of this week with our monthly blog hop.
