Packaging: Prima
Flowers: Prima
Adhesive Dots: Pebbles
Ribbon: Webster's Pages

Scrapbook News and Review Magazine has sketches in every issue created by talented staffers.  Sketches are used by the staff designers either exactly as is, altered in a fun way or interpreted in a certain design style.  I usually choose the Pretty/Shabby Chic option and this is my take on Mandy's fabulous sketch for the March Issue.  If you love working with sketches, this section of the magazine is sure to offer plenty of inspiration.  The April issue is now available!

Mojo Monday - You Shine

Supplies:
Paper: Pink Paislee, Webster's Pages
Flowers: Petaloo, Prima
Letters: Prima
Doily: Hallmark
Mist: Tattered Angels

I'm really starting to love Monday's because I get a fresh does of inspiration from the Mojo Monday challenge at Creative Soup.  This week the challenge is to take inspiration from other crafts and bring them into your scrapping! I really want to learn how to knit and crochet. I included a doily on my layout that my husband's Aunt made for me.  She is nearly 100 years old and has this fabulous talent.  Maybe one day I'll find the time to learn the craft.  Until then, I'm perfectly happy to use her wonderful pieces!

I also wanted to invite you all to join the Creative Soup Team for the Grand Re-Opening Gala May 1st through May 8th.  The festivities include a 4-day crop, live chats, prizes, games and the debut of the May Class Get Messy.  Fun is sure to be had by all to participate and we'd love for you to join us!

Scrap Attack Scrapbooking April Reveal!

I had the pleasure of working with the Teresa Collins On The Edge Collection and Little Yellow Bicycle's Generation Z Collection this month. For embellishments Lauri included some Teresa Collins Blingage and Brads, Zva Creative Crystals and Petaloo Flowers. I also had some shimmery Bazzill cardstock and overlays from both Teresa Collins and LYB. This was a really fun bunch of supplies and I love the blue and gray color combo. I was able to create some great masculine pages as well as layouts about my girls. For a full list of products used on each page, please visit my Scrap Attack Scrapbooking Design Team Gallery. Thanks so much for a fun and fresh kit Lauri!

Mojo Monday - Smile

Supplies:
Cardstock: K & Company
Paper: Glitz Design, 7 Gypsies, Adornit
Flower: Prima
Rub-ons: Daisy D's
Ribbon: Offray
Ink: Clearsnap

I created this layout for the Mojo Monday challenge at Creative Soup. The challenge this week is to use a great pair of shoes to inspire your design or an element on your project. These shoes pictured below are my two favorite pairs of shoes and I've had them since I was in high school. I LOVE butterflies and flowers, so when I saw these shoes I knew I had to have them.

I used both butterflies and flowers on my layout. I chose Glitz papers because I like that they are a little distressed, just like my shoes. I tried to add a lot of bright colors and patterns to my page. I used a textured cardstock that reminded me of canvas for a photo mat. I also added some stitching that reminded me of shoe laces. All of the pretty patterned butterflies were cut from a piece of Glitz paper! Wearing these shoes always puts a smile on my face and so does snuggling with my daughter.

If you love Glitz Design as much as me, you'll want to check out their new monthy contest.  Glitz Design has added a new feature to their blog, an awesome monthly challenge! The first challenge is to create a new project using your favorite Glitz Design papers. You can read all about the details on the Glitz Blog.

We will be working with some really fun and messy art supplies, some which have already worked their way into mainstream scrapping, and some which might seem a little further out there! We'll have step-by-step lessons, photographs illustrating each technique, and unlimited Q&A sessions! Please join us starting Monday, May 2nd for our first lesson. There is never a fee for any of our Creative Classes, so come join in on all the fun!

Here is a little sneak peek of my class project.  Join me to learn how I altered this box as well as how to make what I am keeping inside.  There are several other fabulous projects being featured in this class, something for each scrappy style.  You won't want to miss out!

Berry Fairy - Scrap That! Color Challenge

Supplies:
Paper: Basic Grey, Graphic 45
Letters: American Crafts
Numbers: Paper Trunk
Ribbon: Prima
Stickles: Ranger

I created this layout for Ivana's April Color Challenge for Scrap That! The challenge is to create a layout, a card or an altered item using only two main colours. You can add in neutrals such as black, brown, white and cream.  Play along by the 17th of April and you could win an awesome prize pack sponsored by Scrap That!  The Basic Grey and Graphic 45 papers that were in the Scrap That! Once Upon A Springtime are gorgeous.  I love the pinks and greens.  I found a small picture on one of the Graphic 45 papers of fairies picking berries.  That small image was my inspiration for this page and I used photos from our last trip to the blueberry patch.

I created this page for Karen's Color Challenge for Scrap That! Creative Soup Blog Hop & Relaunch!

Come Join Us as we relaunch Creative Soup at It’s new home! Friday April 8 we will be hosting a Blog Hop to celebrate the relaunch of The Creative Soup’s new forum!!! The Creative Soup.

Who We Are:

The Creative Soup is a new scrapbook challenge forum that started in January 2011. The idea of The Creative Soup is to create a site where scrapbookers can come to be challenged and inspired all in one place. We have a fun vibrant and growing community of really supportive people who are there to encourage one another in our craft!

Creative Soup has several challenges and events to help people get their mojo going!

1. Mojo Mondays: Weekly challenges that rotate between four different kinds of challenges (AAM, Sketch, Inspiration, and Random). We find that challenges are a great way to jump start a layout and to encourage people to scrap more! There are monthly badges and a drawing for prizes for people who complete three out of four challenges.

2. Quarterly Classes: Every quarter our amazing Design Team will present an in-depth month long FREE class to really get your creative juices going. Each class comes with fantastic tutorials, clear and concise directions, and multiple completed samples to help inspire you.

3. Fun inspirational threads that post each week including: Talk Tuesday (journaling prompts), Web Wednesday (cool DIY projects), Thrifty Thursdays (Getting the most out of your scrap supplies), Font Friday (featured online free font), and Snapshot Sunday (photography challenges/ideas)

So come and register at The Creative Soup to join in all the fun! And be sure to stop back Friday April 8th to participate in the blog hop and earn a chance to win a cool prize pack!

In Bloom - {SAS}sy Scrap Your Stash

Supplies:
Paper: Prima
Letters: Prima
Flowers, Leaves: Prima
Pearls: Prima
Ribbon: Prima
Doily: Hallmark
Mist: Tattered Angels
Sketch: Prima's April BAP

I created this layout for Scrap Attack Scrapbooking's April Scrap Your Stash Challenge. I had a great time using both my older and new stash for this layout as well as Prima's April Build A Page Sketch.  The required elements for this challenge were a unique photo mat, brand new supplies, packaging, pearls and a mixed font title. I colored a doily with mist and cut it down for my photo mat. The Prima papers, flowers, pearls and trim are all new!  I'm loving the Melody Collection! The small tag I used to record the date is packaging that I inked pink to match the paper.
All scrappers who complete the minimum amount of {SAS}sy challenges per month are eligible to win a coupon good for an additional 10% off all purchases from the SAS Store! The {SAS}sy Team would love to see how you interpret this challenge and how you are inspired by any of our other monthly challenges, which include ad, color, sketches, journaling, croppy cat and scrapbook play challenges. Happy scrapping!

I'm having so much fun taking some baby steps into the area of mixed media art for Scrapbook News and Review Magazine. This is my very first tag that I created for the February black and white tag call.  In a little over a month I'll be turning 30, so I had that date in mind when I created this tag.  The crackle paint and various number themed embellishments signify my growing age.  I definitely feel time slipping away!
