There's No Place Like Home Card - FabScraps

Hi! I created this simple card with the Journey In Time Collection from FabScraps. I don't often work with a purple and brown color palette, but I really like how this card turned out. I pulled out my much neglected nesting dies to create a layered focal point for the front of this card. Journey Tag - FabScraps

Hi! I'm sharing a tag I created with the Journey In Time Collection for FabScraps today. I though it would be fun to create a little window scene with this fun mix of products. My husband travels frequently for work and often times his plane will fly directly over our house. This tag represents the view from the ground.

FabScraps offers a fantastic selection of clear stickers and metal embellishments. I gathered these elements together to form a fun floral border across the bottom of the chipboard window.

This die-cut airplane comes in the Journey In Time Card Kit and is double-sided. I used the less busy side here. I cut the "Journey" sentiment for this tag from the title strip of a piece of patterned paper. These gorgeous collections come to me all the way from South Africa, so I try to use every little bit of paper for my projects!

Dandelion Shaker Tag - FabScraps

Hi! I'm sharing a fun shaker tag that I created with the Mother Earth collection for FabScraps today. I don't usually reach for my sewing machine, but I love this line so much that the extra step of adding stitching was worth it to create something a bit more special.

I created a vellum pocket to hold small seed beads. The sound this tag makes with a little shake is really fun. I stuck with a neutral color palette to match the pretty Butterfly Script patterned paper. The full supply list and detailed instructions for this tag are up on the FabScraps blog.

Berrylicious Mini Canvas - FabScraps

Hi! I'm sharing a dimensional mini canvas that I created for FabScraps today. The Mother Earth collection is filled with beautiful images, berries being just one of my favorites from the line. I thought it would be fun to highlight my love of this sweet treat and my love for fussy cutting on some small project. Clear stickers and glaze add some shine to this otherwise rustic design. If you're interested in what I used and how I put this canvas together, please visit the FabScraps blog for in full supply list and instructions.

Fly Solo Mixed Media Board - Tando Creative

Hi! I'm sharing a mixed media board for the Anything Goes theme this week on the Tando Creative Design Blog. I had a lot of fun with the Nathalie Kalbach Fashion Dame Stamp Set, the Nathalie Kalbach Bird Stamp Set, the Deco Art Media Line, and Stampendous Spoonful of Silver.

I started this piece by coloring the edge of a Mixed Media Board with a black paint pen and the top of the board with a layer of DecoArt White Gesso. I then sprayed the board with a DecoArt Turquoise Shimmer Mister. I painted solid areas of color using DecoArt Primary Magenta, Primary Yellow, and then a mix of White Gesso, Primary Yellow, and Cadmium Red Hue to create the peach paint. I added a small oval of turquoise acrylic paint. Once the paint was dry, I stamped the foam bird image onto the board using black pigment ink.

To brighten the design I added splatters of Primay Yellow acrylic paint and some doodles with a white paint pen. To dress up the background I used the trouser stamp from the Fashion Dame Stamp Set with purple pigment ink to add a lined design around the bird. I then sprinkled on Spoonful of Silver over the ink and applied heat to set. I highlighted the small ovals on the wing and the eye of the bird with DecoArt Liquid Glass. I finished this board with a Dymo tape quote.

You can find the chipboard I used for this project, and a wonderful selection of DecoArt and Stampendous products, in the Tando Creative Retail Store.

Santa Snow Globe - FabScraps

Hi! I'm sharing a fun altered piece that I created with the new Christmas Snow collection for FabScraps today. I found this candy dispenser while re-organizing my kitchen cupboards and thought it would make a great holiday decoration.

I filled the glass globe with patterned papers, die-cuts, chipboard, and mica flakes to create a snowy scene.

FabScraps has designed the images from their patterned papers and clear stickers to fit directly over the top of their chipboard embellishments! Not only does this awesome feature help speed up the decorating process, it adds a lot of strength to what would otherwise be fragile embellishments, making them perfect for altered projects that need to stand up to handling.

The clear wreath stickers were the perfect way to embellish the base of this piece. I finished this globe with a simple piece of festive ribbon.

Witching Hour Folio - Pion Design

Hi! I'm sharing an altered folio that I created for Pion Design today. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, so I am absolutely thrilled with the new The Witching Hour collection! I have a much higher success rate of finishing mini albums when I complete the majority of the work before the event or holiday. I'm all set to document my Halloween festivities with this altered folio album that measures approximately 7" x 9" and is portable and interactive for displaying memorabilia and photos. I used a photo of my daughter that I cut from an old photo calendar for the cover.

I covered the inside of the folio with patterned paper, images, and a pocket full of tags. I punched holes in the two middle folding flaps so that I could secure the folio close a bit better.

I filled the cascading tabs with more images and tags. There are so many to choose from in this line! I'm all set to quickly add some photos and journaling.

The folding flaps were fun to dress up. I kept the design flat, but there is plenty of room to add layered embellishments here.

Season's Greetings - Pion Design

Hi! I'm sharing a layout that I created with the NEW collection from Pion Design, The Night Before Christmas. It is always fun to dress up for the holidays. I look forward to buying dresses for my girls each year and they love to get a new dress to show off! This photo is one of my favorites of my niece from a Christmas long past.

I absolutely love the gold stars on this patterned paper. I kept the embellishments mostly neutral, except for a few red highlights, to let the photo really pop.

This is the second holiday themed collection from Pion Design, in a traditional gold, green, and red color palette. The first release, Greetings from the North Pole, is made up of frosty blues and browns.

Dear Santa Layout - FabScraps

Hi! I'm sharing a super festive Christmas layout that I created with the Christmas Snow collection for FabScraps today. This line is so fun, and is filled with all my favorite holiday designs, including snowflakes, snowmen, Santa, wreathes, stockings, and elves. I have to confess that I don't usually take a lot of pictures during big holidays. I'm usually having too much fun to remember to grab my camera. This photos is from 2010! I definitely have to make more of an effort to post with my girls!

When I find large designs like this on patterned papers, I just have to cut them out! I highlighted these designs with red glitter glue to add a touch of sparkle.

No holiday layout is complete until the poinsettias are added! I filled out the flower clusters with white satin ribbon roses and are larger green/gold dot flower, both available from FabScraps.

Like so many of my project for FabScraps, I finished this page with a chipboard title. I colored this piece with a simple coat of chalk ink and glaze.

If you're interested in the full supply list and/or instructions for how to create this layout, please visit the FabScraps blog.

Door 27 - Tando Creative

Hi! I'm sharing another door that I created for the Metallic theme this week on the Tando Creative Design Blog. I used parts from the Andy Skinner Industrial Elements Set for this piece.

I first treated the chipboard with a layer of DecoArt Carbon Black Media Mist. Next, I applied a layer of DecoArt Crackle Paste that I tinted with DecoArt Primary Cyan Media Mist. I dirtied up the piece with DecoArt English Red Oxide Antiquing Cream and Black Soot Distress Ink. To add a subtle metallic shimmer I highlighted the gears and edges of the door and keyhole, and the front of the door using the Cogs Mini Mask as a guide, with metallic shades of Perfect Pearls Pigment Powder. To accent the keyhole, I added a decorative heart lock. I finished this piece with some rub-ons.

You can find the chipboard I used for this project, and a wonderful selection of DecoArt products, in the Tando Creative Retail Store.

September Gecko Galz Projects

Hi! I'm sharing the projects I created for Gecko Galz today. The September Customer Challenge theme is Witching Hour. I had so much fun creating a spooky card for that challenge, that I kept the Halloween theme going for the majority of my pieces this month.

I created a small concertina album from mini envelopes that I covered in patterned papers from the Frightfully Delightful Digital Paper Pack. I secured the album closed with a brad, sugar skull button, and white twine.

I filled the inside pages with images cut from the Halloween Night Digital Collage Set. Because I created this album from small envelopes, there is space behind each image to tuck a scary message.

I created this set of earrings using an image from the same digital collage set.

While I had my jewelry supplies out, I thought it would be fun to create a necklace to go with the earrings. This reading skeleton image is from the Bump in the Night Digital Collage Set. These two pieces will probably be my Halloween costume this year!

My oldest daughter loves cats, so I created this card for her. This is just one of 12 fun prints included in the new Frightfully Delightful Digital Paper Pack.

I created this card for the Witching Hour Customer Challenge using the Never More Digital Paper Pack and the Midnight Hour Digital Stamp Set. You can read more about this card HERE.

Here's the FREE stamp I have to offer this month. I hope you use it to create something spooktacular!

Love Envelope Album - FabScraps

Hi! I'm sharing a mini album I created with for FabScraps today using the gorgeous Shabby Rose collection. I purchased a set of envelope templates over a year ago and finally used it. Now that I see how pretty patterned paper envelopes can be, I know I'll be using these templates a lot more!

I used all 8 designs from the collection for this album. There are 7 inside pockets and pages in this album that would be perfect for photos, love letters, small tags, and so much more. I share the full supply list and instructions for this album on the FabScraps blog. I'd love to have you check it out!

Floral Door Hanger - Tando Creative

Hi! I'm sharing a door hanger that I painted up for the Color Theme this week on the Tando Creative Design Blog. The fun selection of Tando Stencils and Masks helped me add some life to this piece of chipboard.

I used the Cogs Mini Mask, both masks from the Leaves Set of 2, and the Poppy Mask here. I added a piece of Grass Flexistrip along the bottom of the hanger.

This color palette is super fun! If you'd like to join us, we'd love to see your work in Tando's Creative Zone on Facebook. You can find the chipboard and masks I used for this project in the Tando Creative Retail Store.

Creepy Card - Gecko Galz September Customer Challenge

Hi! I'm sharing the card I created for the Gecko Galz September Customer Challenge. The theme this month is Witching Hour. Gecko Galz Etsy Shop has such an amazing selection of digital collage sheets, digital papers, and digital stamps that fit this theme that it was hard to choose what products to use. I finally decided on the Never More Digital Paper Pack and the Midnight Hour Digital Stamp Set.

I printed this digital stamp of Edgar Allan Poe (#23 from the set) onto a piece of vellum. I backed the vellum image with the Nightmare patterned paper from the Never More Digital Paper Pack, which has a great orange sunburst effect.

I also used the Asphyxia (purple) and Cat Scratch (black) patterned papers for this card. I dressed up the paper layers with some ribbon and lace and finished the design with a clear sticker sentiment.

If you love Halloween crafting as much as I do, you won't want to miss what the other Galz have created. We'd love to have you join the Gecko Galz Challenge this month! There is only one rule, and that is you need to use at least ONE product from Gecko Galz. It can be one of the free products, stamps, collage images, or digital papers. The winner will receive a $25 Gecko Galz Shopping Spree!
