Christmas Time - Kanban Crafts

"Just For You at Christmas Time"
Kanban Supplies:
Christmas Stars - Blue - CRD1621
Hampshire Cottage - PCT1785
Christmas Tree - PCT2057

This is the last card I will share for Kanban Crafts as my design term is up.  If you are in need of Christmas cards I suggest any one of the fabulous Kanban card sets.  The die-cuts quickly add dimension to give the card the homemade look without too much time.  I love the gold foiled accents and the gold cardstock adds a bit of elegance that I like in a Christmas card.

Avalynn - Flying Unicorn

Cardstock: My Mind's Eye
Paper: Authentique
Chipboard Letter: Pink Paislee
Letter Stickers: Authentique
Die-cuts: Authentique
Butterfly: Cathi O'Neill
Other: Doily, Pearls, Pin, Ribbon

I created this layout of my new niece Avalynn with my creative team supplies from Flying Unicorn.  The pattern on the Authentique "Unique" paper was a bit busy, so I cut all of the patterned pieces from this paper except for the pink polka dot. This paper is very sturdy, so the resulting lattice is strong and would stand up to inking or mist well.

The stamp shaped die-cut is gorgeous and only one of many that coordinate with this collection.

I cut these flowers from patterned paper.  I love the texture!

You can pick up this collection from the Flying Unicorn Store! If pink isn't your color, the Authentique "Journey" collection is also available, which has a beautiful color palette of blue, brown and cream.  Shop before the end of the month and use coupon code SPOOK to save an extra 13%!

Creme de la Creme - Flying Unicorn

Paper: Riddersholm
Rub-on: Basic Grey
Flowers: Flying Unicorn, Prima
Leaves: Recollections
Lace: Prima, Webster's Pages
Ribbon: Offray
Pearls: Prima
Ink: Ranger
Mist: Shimmerz
Paint: Creative Inspirations, Ranger
Stickles: Ranger
Modeling Paste: Blick
Stencil: Prima

I created this layout using some gorgeous papers from the Riddersholm Chantilly Dawn collection for Flying Unicorn.  If you love these papers as much as I do, you'll want to visit the Flying Unicorn Store and pick some up before they sell out!

The purples, ivory and browns in this paper collection are stunning and went well with the photo of my daughter taken last Easter.  I used a Prima stencil and some modeling paste to add a textured design element to my page that I then covered with mist, paint and ink.  The small brown blooms are also from the Flying Unicorn Store and are the perfect size for rounding out flower clusters or accenting a small bow.

If you're ready to start your Christmas crafting, the Riddersholm Christmas Collection "I Believe" is also available from the Flying Unicorn Store!

Highway To Ride - Scrap it with a Song

Cardstock: Wausau
Paper: Bam Pop, Sassafras Lass
Overlay: Hambly Screen Prints
Cardstock Stickers: Sassafras Lass
Letter Stickers: Glitz Design
Die-cut Frame: Bam Pop
Badge: American Crafts
Other: Lace

I created this layout for the new inspiration piece at Scrap it with a Song.  Instead of an inspirational song, the challenge this week is to use a photo for inspiration.  I tried to include the bold colors and patterns of the Grateful Dead poster on my page. I also used some lyrics from the Grateful Dead song "New Speedway Boogie" as the title of this layout. My Uncle posted this photo of the sunset as reflected in his side mirror on facebook and I thought it was just beautiful and perfect for this challenge.

Here is the inspiration piece for this week:

Tattered Hibiscus Headband

Cardstock: Wausau
 Mist: Tattered Angels
 Ink: Ranger
 Stickles: Ranger
  Tattered Floral Die: Sizzix
 Tool: Cuttlebug
 Thread: Iris
 Other: Headband

I wanted to try a new floral die and I knew just where to look for my inspiration.  Wendy Greenaway makes gorgeous flowers and her Tattered Hibiscus Tutorial helped me make these beautiful blooms for my headband. Her tutorial was really easy to follow. The only elements I changed were the color of my cardstock and mists and my flower center. Once I stitched my flowers to the headband through the flower center, I covered the thread with Distress Stickles.

Fandago Card Set - Kanban Crafts

Kanban Crafts Supplies:
Fandango Girl - Lilac and Green - PCT1428
Purple Quad Metallic Cardstock - MIR1302
3D Foam Pads - FOAM3

Other Supplies:
Ribbon: Celebrate It

I love these Fandago Girls from Kanban Crafts!  The set comes with two girls, one in lilac and one in green.  I thought it would be fun to mix the sets and have girls with both lilac and green skirts.  The layers of the skirts are so fun and they really pop off the metallic cardstock.

Remember The Moments - Flying Unicorn

Remember The Moments Digital Notebook - Alda Stevens
Flowers: Prima
Leaves: Zva Creative
Ribbon: Details
Lace: Prima
Ink: Ranger

I assembled this Remember The Moments book from a digital design by Alda Stevens for Flying Unicorn.  This book is available for FREE to download!  Also available is a four-part You Tube tutorial showing some tips and techniques in creating this book.  I made this book for my sister and filled the pages with photos from her wedding.  There are plenty of pockets and tags for her to write her own journaling.

This book came together quickly and only required 16 pieces of cardstock and some small pieces of ribbon and lace.  There are dozens of tags and images ready to be cut, including flowers, birds, fairies and butterflies.  I know I'll be making another book soon!  If you haven't stopped by the Flying Unicorn forum yet, this is only one of many inspiring projects!

Dog Gone Cute

Paper: Dream Street Papers, Cosmo Cricket
Felt: Queen & Company
Chipboard: Cosmo Cricket
Flower: American Crafts
 Thread: Iris
 Adhesive Foam: American Crafts

Scrapbook News and Review Magazine has a wonderful monthly feature called Play Along With Me where staff members pick a tutorial from a recent issue and use it to create a new project.  SNR staffer Lucy Chesna shared a tutorial about how to add 3D effects to photos.  Lucy shared three different techniques in her tutorial and I really wanted to try them all!  I usually use adhesive foam to raise fussy cut elements on my layouts, but I have never applied the same process to a photo. I cut pieces from several photos and used adhesive foam to assemble my photo pieces to create a multi-layered photo.  The photo on the above layout has three layers. This technique was easy and fun and a great way to use up extra copies of my favorite photos. I also love the dimension it added to my layout!

If you love learning new techniques but are short on time, this feature is great to follow because you get two different inspiring projects using the same technique as well as design notes and helpful tips from two designers.  If you don't have a subscription to SNR Magazine it's a great time to subscribe!  There are several exciting things happening before the end of the year including a project-packed double issue that will be released in two parts, October 30th and November 13th!  If you're looking for a special Christmas gift for a fellow scrapper, a subscription to SNR Magazine will be sure to put a smile on their face!

I Do It For You - Scrap It With A Song

Paper: Cherry Arte, Sassafras Lass
Sheet Music: Almo Publications
Tag: Avery
Flowers: Prima
Sticker: Webster's Pages
Paper Tape: Pink Paislee
Mist: Tattered Angels
Ink: Ranger
Other: Twine

There is a new song on the play list at Scrap It With A Song, "(Everything I Do) I Do It For You" by Bryan Adams. I was 10 years old when the film "Robin Hood" was released, and boy did I have a crush on Kevin Costner after seeing the movie! I also loved the song "(Everything I Do) I Do It For You" for the film by Bryan Adams, so I bought the sheet music for piano and learned how to play it. I still have the sheet music, so I scanned and printed a copy of the first page and used that for the base of my layout. I didn't think I could love anyone more than my husband, but then I had two beautiful girls. Everything I do, I do for them. I used the title of the song for the title of this page and also used some of the song lyrics in my journaling.

Stop by SIWAS to check out the fabulous work from the other Rock Chicks.  Play along and link up your project by October 31st for your chance to win the prize!

Paper: Crate Paper, GCD Studios, Glitz Design, Reminisce
Flowers: Prima
Notecard: Pink Paislee
Frame: Glitz Design
Stickers: Reminisce
Badge: American Crafts
Rub-On: Fancy Pants
Mist: Tattered Angels
Ink: Ranger
Stencil: Tattered Angels
Other: Lace

I created this layout for the Purple People Eater Challenge at Flying Unicorn. The rule for this challenge was to have purple the dominant color of your project. I had a lot of fun playing with purple supplies from my stash, a favorite color of mine that I need to use more in my crafting. I recently had a photo shoot with my girls in their Halloween costumes for this year. I never get any good photos the night of and taking pictures early means I can scrap now! This is my oldest daughter Claire, who is thrilled to be a witch this year!

Halloween Card

Paper: Pink Paislee
Ribbon: Details
Stickles: Ranger
Ink: Ranger
Other: Button, Twine, Vintage Image

I created this card for the October Seasonal Adaptation Challenge at Flying Unicorn. I found this great vintage image in the Flying Unicorn Once Upon A Picture group and I loved the softer colors. I used patterned papers from three different Pink Paislee collections; Spring Fling, Starlight and Mistletoe & Co., all of which I would not normally use for a Halloween card. There are several more fun challenges for October with fabulous RAKs up for grabs if you want to play along!

Bella Card Set - Kanban Crafts

Kanban Supplies:
Bella Hearts - Multi - CRD9922
Bella Hearts - Pink - PCT9853
3D Foam - FOAM3

Other Supplies:
Ribbon: Martha Stewart
Miscellaneous: Buttons, Twine

I wanted to create a couple of simple cards that would be great for everyday use.  I like to have blank cards on hand so that I can quickly write a note and drop it in the mail.  The pastel color palette and gold foil accents on the Bella Hearts collection by Kanban Crafts caught my eye.

Rather than adding a specific sentiment, I chose a more general "For You."

I cut small hearts and butterflies and attached them to my card with 3D foam to help give this simple design more dimension.
