Cozy Christmas Tag Box - Flying Unicorn

Supplies:
Paper: The ScrapCake
Pearls: Melissa Frances
Rhinestone Charm: Pink Paislee
Paint: Tulip
Other: Twine

A small tag box made with The ScrapCake Cozy Christmas Collection, available in the Flying Unicorn Store! I used an empty gum box as a template. The small Cozy Christmas tags fit inside perfectly! This would also make a nifty box for a gift card or small stocking stuffer and is a great way to put those smaller scraps of paper to use!

As a reminder, every purchase made from the Flying Unicorn Store from November 01- November 30 2011, Flying Unicorn will donate 5% to Women in Distress. Christmas Emporium Box - Flying Unicorn

Supplies:
Paper: Graphic 45
Ribbon: Offray
Rox: Queen & Company
Ink: Ranger

I'm preparing for the holiday season and thought it would be great to have some blank cards, envelopes, notecards and tags on hand for unexpected visitors or for quick last minute gift wrapping.  The Graphic 45 Christmas Emporium collection has several sheets of images and tags that make assembling cards and gift tags a breeze.  As I was working on these items, I also thought that a box to hold my cards and tags would be helpful to keep everything organized and in one spot.

Here is the top of the box.  I just love this image of Santa!

To decorate the sides of the box I cut the stamps from patterned paper and trimmed the edges with my postal patterned decorative edge scissors.  The wavy sentiment banner on the front of the box is held in place with adhesive foam.

Here are the contents of my box.  I grouped the similar items into piles and tied them with twine and ribbon to keep things organized.

If you haven't picked up this gorgeous paper collection yet, stop by the Flying Unicorn Store!  As a reminder, every purchase made from the Flying Unicorn Store from November 01- November 30 2011, Flying Unicorn will donate 5% to Woman in Distress.

Momenta Guest Designer!

I'm so excited to share my Guest Design projects for Momenta today!  When I was asked what I would like to work with, two collections were at the top of my list, Family Forever and Back Country.  I was thrilled to open my box of goodies and find both collections inside!  All of the projects I will be sharing today use supplies from both collections, which coordinate very well.

I love patterned paper and frequently draw my inspiration from printed designs.  I like to cut elements from paper to make embellishments for my projects.  The colorful leaves featured in the Back Country collection immediately caught my eye and I used them to create a  wreath for a layout.

Momenta Supplies: PA-2358, PA-2240, PA-2331, ST-4079, ST-4789, ST-4837, ST-4838, ST-4738, ST-4793

To make this wreath you will need the following supplies:

Leaves cut from 2 sheets of patterned paper
Floral wire
Floral tape
Circle template (I used a bowl)
Needle and thread
Wire cutters
Scissors
Glue

Step 1: Wrap the floral wire around your template, twist the ends together and cut.  Note: I used a circle shape, but any shape could be used.

Step 2: Wrap the floral wire with floral tape.  Note: The tape covers the sharp ends of the cut wire and will also add strength to the wire frame.

Step 3: Assemble the base of your layout and add a photo.  Decide where to place the wire frame for the wreath and stitch it into place using a needle and thread.

Step 4: Glue the leaves around the wire until it is completely covered.  Add a title and embellishments to finish the layout.

The same steps can be followed to create a floral vine.

While creating my layouts I noticed that Momenta papers are foiled, glittered and shimmery, and many have a canvas-type feel.  With so many great textures to play with I created a mini album that is as fun to touch as it is to look at!

I hope my projects have inspired you today!  Thank you again to Momenta for your generosity.  I had a blast working with these products!

Cheers - Scrap Your Crap

Supplies:
Paper: American Crafts, Sassafras Lass
Letter Stickers: October Afternoon
Mist: Tattered Angels
Other: Buttons, Ribbon

Scrap Your Crap Challenge Blog is back! I'm so excited to be a part of the new team and to hopefully inspire you to scrap your crap! Challenge #59 makes use of an element that has been seen on almost  everyone's projects this year: mist or spray paint. Many of us crafters have built up an array of mists but only use a fraction of the colors we have. So, we want to see you make use of at least THREE different mists/color sprays.

I used six colors of mist on my layout, all from the Spring 2011 Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist collection. I sprayed my mist down an empty toilet paper roll to make the circles.  The SYC Team would love to see how you use your mist.  Check out the fabulous work from the other team members and link up your project HERE.

If you love sketches, you won't want to miss out on part one of the double issue being released next week!  If you aren't a subscriber, you can read all about the subscription options HERE.  If you're looking for a fabulous Christmas gift for a special someone, consider a gift subscription to SNR Magazine.  One affordable payment delivers an entire year of inspiration!

Flowers: Petaloo
Flourishes: Prima
Chipboard: Tattered Angels
Ribbon: Offray
Thread: Iris
Leaf Stencil: Pebbles

I created this layout for the Pumpkin Patch Challenge at Flying Unicorn.  I used patterned papers from the Riddersholm Chantilly Dawn and The Day Before Collections and Petaloo Candies flowers which are available in the Flying Unicorn Store! Even though the Riddersholm The Day Before is a Christmas collection, the rich green, burgundy and brown papers work well for fall themed pages too!

This month Flying Unicorn is donating up to $1,000 to Women in Distress. You can help and here's how. For each project uploaded to the Flying Unicorn gallery, Flying Unicorn will donate $1. Help us get $1,000 for Women in Distress. We need 1,000 uploads to reach our goal.

If you have never suffered abuse at the hands of your partner, count your blessings. So many of our sisters have had to endure abuse, both physical and mental. Some of the Flying Unicorn members have lived these nightmares but somehow found the strength to remove themselves from these situations. They have shared their horrific stories, not for your sympathy, but to inspire other woman and give courage and strength to those in need. Their stories are purposeful examples meant to empower. Women in Distress is ready and waiting to aid those women who so desperately need help.

Please help us help Women in Distress by uploading your creations to the Flying Unicorn Gallery.

Change - Scrap it with a Song

Supplies:
Paper: Rose Moka
Letters: American Crafts
Netting: Webster's Pages
Flower: Prima
Butterfly: Zva Creative
Mist: Clearsnap
Lyrics: Chris Cornell

I created this layout for the current song on the play list at Scrap it with a Song, "Can't Change Me" by Chris Cornell.  This challenge is extra special to me because I chose the artist for this week!  I'm a huge Chris Cornell fan and this song is just one of many that really speak to me.  It's not too often these days that I know the words to all the songs on an album, know every note of music and every twist and turn in the vocals, Euphoria Mourning is one of those albums.  It's definitely worth a listen!

I'm very thankful for all that I have, but some days are more overwhelming than others.  The journaling reads "Some days I feel that I'm the only thing I really have at all.  I wish I could change."  The Rock Chicks would love to see how this song inspires you!  You can use any of the lyrics, title or even just use the song for inspiration! Link up your project by November 30th for your chance to win the prize!
